It is known as the “Holy Year Cross”, the “Jubilee Cross”, the “WYD Cross”, and the “Pilgrim Cross”. Many call it the “Youth Cross” as it was given to young people to take around the world to any place at any time by St. John Paul II, patron of world Youth day.

The Krishnagar Diocese in West Bengal is having its Diocesan Youth Convention from 4 -7 October 2014 at Don Bosco High School Krishnagar. In preparation for the Youth Convention the Sacred Cross is on pilgrimage to all the Parishes of the diocese of Krishnagar. Don Bosco Parish Kalyani was privileged to have the Cross from 24 August – 31 August. The youth of the parish brought the cross from Ranaghat Parish. The Cross was then taken by the youth to all the families of Raghunapur and Matpara. The families welcomed the Cross with reverence and joined in prayer conducted by the youth and Sr.Margaret Barla. Many were emotionally moved, found strength in the Cross to face the daily realities of life as they prayed and venerated the Cross in their homes.

On the eve of our Community day the Cross was brought to our community. The Vigil service with all the sisters and Boarders was centered on ‘Love’. The Cross was a fitting symbol to unite us all in love so as to walk in faith and trust carrying our daily Cross.
