Twin Celebration at Auxilium Barasat

IMG_5238On 5th August 2015 the communities of Barasat held twin celebrations of the foundation day and the silver jubilee of Sr. Sherley Kalapurayil.  The Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Fr. Anthony Rodrick, the parish priest and five other co- celebrants.  The Boarders and the aspirants solemnized the celebration with the entrance dance, melodious singing and liturgical animation.  Fr. Maurlin Fernando SJ in his homily stressed that during this year of bicentenary of the birth of St. John Bosco, one needs to be revitalized by his spirit and charism. He drew the attention of the assembly that Sr. Sherley the silver jubilarian   had been zealous follower of the saint of the street urchins, Don Bosco as she had spent the major part of her religious life with the street children.  He congratulated her for her vibrant enthusiastic involvement in this great and tedious task.  After the homily the solemn ceremony of the handing over the Constitution was carried out to all the sisters by Fr. Aloysius J Carvalho SJ leading to the moment of the pronouncement of the vows by all the sisters.  The silver jubilarian, Sr. Sherley of course pronounced her vows with great fervor alone permeating ambient of the chapel especially the young people present.  The crowning of the jubilarian by Sr. Leelamma  Palliparambil and the garlanding by Sr. Teresa Adampakallel, vice provincial was momentous and climaxing.   After the final blessing the assemblage proceeded to the aspirantate hall for the felicitation ceremony. IMG_5292

During the felicitation ceremonial the sisters received the chapter books given by Don Bosco played by the postulant Salomi Buia. The occasion of the foundation day and the silver jubilee was delightful with the presence of the Provincial, Sr. Rose Ezarath, vice-provincial, Sr. Teresa Adampakallel, provincial Economer, Sr. Annie Thevarkunnel, Salesian fathers from Don Bosco Park Circus and Liluah, Jesuit fathers from Arunoday, religious from all the nearby communities, young students, staff and collaborators. It was a wonderful experience to be together to praise and thank the Lord for the gift of our Institute for the Church and for the society.
