Holy Father Pope Francis in His message says, “Being a missionary is not about proselytizing or mere strategy; mission is part of the “grammar” of faith, something essential for those who listen to the voice of the Spirit who whispers “Come” and “Go forth”.
Following the exhortation of the Pope, St. Mary’s Geyzing celebrated the World Mission Day on 16th October 2015. It was a unique celebration with the staff and students. The students presented a meaningful skit from the Gospel– Jesus sending His disciples to proclaim the Kingdom. The catechism children composed songs relevant to the theme of the day. Sr. Nirmala Tigga, in her message invited the students to be missionaries in a little way.
Keeping in mind the need of our new mission centre in Kurtumgarh, we organised a canteen for our students. Various homemade delicious items attracted the students to the food stalls. Every one enjoyed the day thoroughly. It was edifying to see the oneness and joy of all the sisters working together with the staff and collaborators to make the day joyful and successful.
‘Mission is a passion for Jesus and at the same time a passion for his people’.
The sisters did go to the peripheries of Geyzing town to meet the poor people who eagerly wait for the Good News and to tell them that Jesus is present in their sufferings and in their poverty. The sisters encouraged the people by telling them that Jesus is alive and Active. He walks with them and speaks to them.
