‘Gratitude is the memory of the heart’. Keeping this thought in mind , Holy Child Auxilium School, R.K.Puram, celebrated its ‘Gratitude Day’ on 7th November, a day set aside for thanking and honouring our dear Superior and Sisters for their whole hearted dedication and service to this institution.
The air looked festive with colourful balloons hanging on the trees. The children also looked beautiful in their colourful party wear. The students of Class IV dressed in Indian attire lined up to greet and welcome the sisters. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by our Superior, Sr. Lily, our Headmistress, Sr. Asha and Administrator Sr. Alphonsa. Prayers to invoke the Lord’s blessings on our sisters were recited. A gratitude speech thanking the sisters was made by a student of Class V.
The students of every Class presented floral bouquets and some essential items for the poor. A beautifully synchronized Indian dance was put up by the students of Class IV. This brought out the essence of our Indian Culture. The tiny tots of Nursery and K.G put action songs which thanked our Lord for His wonderful Creation and also for guiding us like a Friend and Shepherd. The children of Class I presented a dance to the tune of a lively song titled ‘Lord we thank You’ . A peacock dance was the highlight of the programme . The students of Class II danced to the tune of ‘You raise me up’ and created a beautiful peacock with the words ‘THANK YOU’ on the wings. A foot tapping song in action was presented by Class II. This song had everyone dancing in their places.
A dance drama on the life of the ‘Salesian Sisters’ was put up by the students of Class V. It showcased the apostolate of the Salesian Sisters and the selfless service rendered by the Sisters in all spheres of life not only in India but the world over.
Much to everyone’s surprise, the Sisters sang a sweet song showing their gratefulness to the teachers and children for their love and generosity.
Sr. Superior then thanked the Teachers and students for the meaningful programme presented on the occasion of Gratitude Day and exhorted the children to be always grateful to all those who help us and also to be helpful and caring towards the less fortunate ones around us.
Thus the programme came to an end with the thought ‘Gratitude is one of the sweet shortcuts to finding peace of mind and happiness inside’
