Fr. Bikash Mondal, Principal of Don Bosco Park Circus with us to celebrate this day. It is a significant event as the new scholastic year begins by invoking the blessing of Mother General and thanking for her valuable contribution towards creating an educational framework globally.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY at Auxilium Convent School, Dum Dum

Auxilium School witnessed a solemn celebration of the investiture ceremony under the motto “The art of communication is the language of leadership. This occasion was graced by Fr.Rodney Borneo, the   honorable principal of St.Loyola school, Kidderpore.  A short speech on the essence of leadership and a reading from the Holy Bible, stressing on the fact that the Son of  God didn’t come to be served but to serve. This was followed by the Primary, Middle and High school captains, House captains and Vice captains, Prefects, club presidents and class Monitors receiving their badges and sashes. After the leaders had taken their respective badges, the flag handing ceremony took place where Rev.Fr.Rodney handed over the flag, as a symbol of the acceptance of responsibility to work for the welfare of the school community, to the leaders. A song titled “We can achieve’ was sung by the leaders to instill confidence and self assertion in their hearts as well as in those of the audience.

Investiture

Fr.Rodney in his speech, underscoring the fact that leadership is not about glittering frills but about earnest commitments touched everyone’s heart. The inclusion of a very pertinent  and interesting  story about the origin of the word ‘sincere’ from the Latin phrase ‘sine cere’ meaning without wax, referring to using wax to cover blemishes  of cracked statues and their placement in the sun to distinguish the immaculate from the flawed statues, made the speech much  entertaining. His words proclaiming that the work lacks in leadership and not leaders were echoed. Finally Superior, Sr. Teresa A, congratulated the leaders and exhorted them to place their faith in God.

Investiture ceremony

The Investiture ceremony is one of the unique events of the scholastic year. The school Captain Rohan Das led the group of captains: vice captains, prefects, house captains and vice captains, club presidents, class captains and vice captains. Two vice captains- Agnes Carrol and Ananya Bhuiyan, all the house captains, club presidents held the  colourful wreath  and entered in procession, while Ms. Dola Roy explained the meaning of each colour of the wreath. They placed the wreath at the feat of our Blessed Mother symbolically surrendering them to the Mother of Auxilium. They then pronounced their formula of oath taking. Rev. Fr. Alfred Paul boosted them up with his inspiring talk. He said ‘I am because we are”. This attitude is very important for the captains as they are chosen and given trust to be leaders; they should always be open to be guided by sisters and teachers and should guide the others. Trust begets trust so the captains should be sincere in exhibiting their talents as it is their chance to be captain. He encouraged them to try their best to reach the goal as they sang together ‘We shall overcome’ in four languages.Investiture ceremony 1

Indeed the day became memorable as they assumed their responsibilities with much enthusiasm.
