The first day began with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided over by Rev. Fr. T.C. George sdb. In his Homily, he gave a meaningful explanation of day’s theme “Stay with us Lord”, recommending each one of us to pray, and   ask Jesus to stay with us on our Journey.

The Inaugural session was well planned, organized and executed by the organizers. The participants were escorted by  the School children, with their rhythmic band-set. The celebration began with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries of the day.

The Key note address was given  by Sr. Bala Savarimuthul, the National Coordinator for Mission Ad gentes. The message of Rev. Sr. Lucy Rose, the visiting councilor was read  by Sr. Shirley of INK Province. It was focused on Personal transformation. Finally Rev. Sr. Bridget Jacob, the provincial councilor and In-charge of Province   Youth Pastoral Ministry,  highlighted  the fact that each one of us is  called to “become a saint”  following the foot-steps of our  patron saint St. Teresa of Child Jesus to be passionate for Jesus, cost what it may.

Rev. Fr. T. C. George gave a meaningful session   on the Chapter theme “FROM EMMAUS TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH” highlighting  the following themes:

  • “Stay with us”
  • “Where not our Hearts Burning within us”
  • “They set out immediately” respectively.

The different kind of Shifts and the challenges in the Disciples of Emmaus were explained to us clearly:

  • Doubt to Faith
  • Weakness to Power
  • Fear to Courage
  • Sadness to Joy

Fr. George stressed the role of Mary in the Church’s Evangelization. We believe that Mary is the greatest Evangelizer as she continues to spread the messages of prayer and penance through her apparitions in different places and to different people. We also viewed the Devotion to Personal consecration to Jesus through Mary, “Millions to Mary” a World consecration Campaign. We are convinced that, With Mary, from “Emmaus to the ends of the Earth” becomes fruitful and challenging.

These three days of seminar strengthened our conviction that “Once we are transformed we feel the urge within ourselves to go and proclaim or give Jesus to others”. Transformation Leads to Proclamation.

Besides the input sessions and presentation of various gospel themes, group discussions, reflections and sharing were held in groups and it certainly enriched our day’s learning experiences and Personal missionary convictions.

WORLD MISSION DAY  Celebration  at St.Mary’s Geyzing

P1190186

Holy Father Pope Francis in His message says, “Being a missionary is not about proselytizing or mere strategy; mission is part of the “grammar” of faith, something essential for those who listen to the voice of the Spirit who whispers “Come” and “Go forth”.

Following the exhortation of the Pope, St. Mary’s Geyzing celebrated the World Mission Day on 16th October 2015. It was a unique celebration with the staff and students. The students presented a meaningful skit from the Gospel– Jesus sending His disciples to proclaim the Kingdom. The catechism children composed songs relevant to the theme of the day. Sr. Nirmala Tigga, in her message invited the students to be missionaries in a little way.

Keeping in mind the need of our new mission centre in Kurtumgarh, we organised a canteen for our students. Various homemade delicious items attracted the students to the food stalls. Every one enjoyed the day thoroughly. It was edifying to see the oneness and joy of all the sisters working together with the staff and collaborators to make the day joyful and successful.

‘Mission is a passion for Jesus and at the same time a passion for his people’. Mission

The sisters did go to the peripheries of Geyzing town to meet the poor people who eagerly wait for the Good News and to tell them that Jesus is present in their sufferings and in their poverty. The sisters encouraged the people by telling them that Jesus is alive and Active. He walks with them and speaks to them.

Missionary week

Mission - AspThe Postulants and Aspirants at Barasat had the “Missionary week” from 11 18 October 2015. The week celebration started with a solemn procession during which the Holy Bible and Globe was carried by our sisters. During these days the postulants and aspirants kept themselves busy, with various activities such as; giving goodnights on our missionary Sisters, composing songs, Panel on the Word of God, animated recreation, skits etc. They were happy to know the life of our missionary Sisters and want to follow their way of loving and serving Christ and His people.  On the last day they put up a beautiful play let on the life of our missionary sisters.

Since it is the month of the Holy Rosary and Mission we animated Rosary in the families as well as in the community praying for the Missionaries all over the world and for peace, unity and joy in the family. It helped us to love Mary our Mother more deeply, to have trust and confidence in her and to be enthusiastic missionaries wherever we are.

Mission Experience

Mission Experience

We the three postulants Jenifer Selvaraj, Binita Bara and Alka Tigga had our  Mission Experience from 15th February to 9th March 2015 in three communities, Bandel, Monsada and Kalyani respectively. During these days we experienced the warm welcome, love and care of the sisters. We were inspired especially by their witnessing life, togetherness and loving kindness.  We learnt to assist the children and  teach them some lessons . Visiting families and villages helped us to grow in God’s love and come to know the sufferings of the people. Our presence gave joy to their families and they were free to share with us their problems. Community and personal prayer brought us closer to God and strengthened our faith.

We thank our dear Sr. Maria Pettayil, the Provincial and Sr. Lily Perumpettikunnel, our animator for having given us this great opportunity to experience the mission life and to make ourselves strong in our vocation.

Proclaim the Good News

??????????

Mark: 16-15. “Go throughout the whole world and preach the Gospel to all mankind”.

The month of October was dedicated to the mission and to the Holy Rosary that reminded us of our duty as baptized Christians to proclaim our Faith to those who have not yet heard about it and to strengthen those who are weak in Faith.

In preparation for the celebration of Mission Sunday the following practices were taken at Auxilium, Kalyani every week:  to share about the first Missionary expedition of Mother Mazzarello, the first  missionary sisters of India, the missionary expedition from the Acts of the Apostles and the first pioneering Sisters who came to Kalyani in 1980 . We are privileged to have Sr. Rosy Mathew in our community from the first batch who planted and nurtured the charism in Kalyani.

We visited families and animated them to pray with the Word of God. Throughout the month special prayers were offered for the missionaries and prayed the chain Rosary for the intension of our Holy Father. On 27th October 2014 the community had the Mission Sunday celebration. The four groups of boarders enacted the conversion of St. Paul, the mission of St. Mary Mazzarello, the mission of St. Peter healing the lame man and the call of Samuel.

We are strengthened with the thought that each one of us is called to be a missionary in whichever place we are placed in. Mission Sunday reawakened in us once again the urge to go and proclaim the “Word of God” to everyone. These various initiatives helped us strive towards being bearers of the Good News of Christ in little ways .

“GO FORTH……”

go forth...

On 17th October, St. Mary’ Convent School Geyzing, celebrated the Mission Day. The Catechism students presented the stage programme based on the theme “GO FORTH….”  Sr. Ranjita Nayak highlighted in the introduction the message of the Holy Father Pope Francis for the World Mission Day.

The missionary zeal of the apostles was acted out by the Catechism students of Classes III – VIII. Students of classes IX – X presented the life of the early missionaries who shed their blood for Christ’s sake. The programme concluded with a song “Will you come and follow me” by the Sisters and students.

At the end of the programme Superior Sr. Nirmala, congratulated the students and exhorted   them to proclaim Jesus by living an exemplary life among their friends, in their families and neighbourhood.

On 19th October, the Mission Sunday, in the afternoon  Sr. Paulina Toppo, Sr. Restitula Kharpran and some boarding girls together with the Parish Priest went to an interior village Melli, 2 hours of journey, to visit the four Catholic families in this village. They had the Holy Rosary and the Eucharistic celebration in the house of Mr. Lal Bahadur Rai.  Neighbours and non believers too joined them. The celebrant, Fr. Walter Crasta, highlighted the life of the missionaries.  He said that all baptised Christians are called to be missionaries. He encouraged them to read Bible and speak about Jesus to people around them who are still waiting to know and accept Christ.

The presence of Sisters and our young girls was a boon for the people to live their Christian calling with enthusiasm and it was an invitation to ‘go forth’.
