Past Pupils Federation meet was held at Dum Dum on 1st May 2016. 22 members were present in all including the local delegates of the 2 communities of Barasat and Dum Dum. Sr. Elizabeth Joseph welcomed the group. The main agenda for the day was to plan out the program for the 27th November 2016 for the forthcoming Annual Past pupil’s meet.

We had the joy and privilege of the presence of Provincial Sr. Rose Ezarath, for the first time this year. She encouraged and boosted the members to venture out to serve the young and see what more can be done  to reach out to the needs of the world. She enlightened us on the words of Mother General to the Past Pupils to understand  the origin and rise of the Association at Valdocco by Fr. Philip Rinaldi and Sr. Catherine Arighi . ‘Being a past pupil is a gift, a stamp never to be erased. ‘Being a past pupil is an epiphany of the salesian charism in the world in the Mornese style.’ The day ended on a joyous note with this happy reunion of the past pupils federation to share a common goal and vision in a true family spirit.

Visit-Green Park-Mother T.

                           VISIT TO GREEN PARK

The Past pupils of Dum Dum Unit along with Sr. Esther, the Delegate of the local unit, headed first to visit Green Park, the home for the mentally challenged for women. They were welcomed by the superior of the house. Some inmates sang to greet their new visitors. It was an emotional moment to see some inmates in a state of oblivion without any knowledge of their surroundings. We should be grateful to God, who has blessed us with the wonderful gift i.e the brain with which we can correspond correctly with one another. The members distributed snacks, cakes and soft drinks to all the 320 inmates of the house. It was good to see how the Missionaries of Charity carry forward their goals to serve the poorest of the poor and the unwanted people of the society.

VISIT TO ST ANN’S HOME FOR THE AGED

Visit -Old age Home

Our next destination was the visit to St Ann’s Home. Sr Superior welcomed the Past Pupils. The Past Pupils individually met each inmates and distributed snacks, biscuits, rice and potatoes in a substantial amount. It was sad to hear the tragic story of why they were left in the old age home. I thought for a moment, is it because of this that most parents bring their children up – to spend life all alone in a far off home only to count the days of their earthly end? Well I leave the question unanswered!
