Feast of Divine Mercy Celebrated

223

On 23rd April, Auxilium Barasat, celebrated the feast of Divine Mercy together with the neighbouring community. The liturgy was animated by the seminarians of Arunoday. In his homily Rev. Fr. Francis S.J. through a story about the difference between Buddha and Jesus beautifully brought out the importance of Christianity and the importance of sharing the bread of life with our brothers and sisters. He emphasized the unconditional Mercy of God for us each time we sin and encouraged one and all to approach this bountiful source of mercy often.

At 3 p.m. the community gathered around well decorated picture lit with red and white candles symbolizing blood and water and recited with great devotion the Divine mercy chaplet. During the adoration the monstrance was placed in front of the divine mercy picture surrounded by red and white globes on red and white stands to draw everyone’s attention to the fount of mercy –the blood and water that flowed from the pierced side of Jesus.  The theme of the adoration was the Gospel passage of the day – Jesus inviting all to go to his pierced side and the wounds to experience healing and strength to be messengers of mercy.
