Day with God (1)

On 13th August 2016, hour of grace filled the air at Holy Child Auxilium, R. K.Puram for the little ones who spent half a day in close union with Jesus. “Jesus loves the little children and shows mercy” was the theme of the day. 65 children of classes III & IV spent the time fruitfully in singing and praising Jesus the merciful Saviour. Sr. Perumpettikunnel Lily together with Sr. Minj Anima organized and conducted the prayer moments. With the help of a short clipping on Bl.Mariam Theresia,  children were encouraged to love Jesus in a personal and child-like manner. Here are some of the echoes from the children themselves: “I will help others  in need like Blessed Theresia”; “I will talk to Jesus as if to my close friend”; “I will be a good girl and love everyone”.  The day with God was concluded with a thanksgiving prayer and seeking God’s blessings

Foundation Day Celebration at Kalyani

Foundation Day.

Six wise virgins approached the altar offering burning lamps to the Lord, sign and symbol of our long years of fidelity, some 20+ 30 + 40 + and 50 + in the vineyard of the Lord. The words of our founder Don Bosco rang through us inviting us to become saints, keeping ever faithful to our Constitutions and never ever regret having consecrated ourselves to God fully and giving ourselves totally to Him alone.

Fr. Peter Gomes sdb in his brief homily explained the significance of today’s feast – Our Lady of Snow and exhorted us to be like Mary-“sinless”, twice blessed, like her who heard the Word of God and kept it.

Foundation Day

The agape where the boarders, the sdb community and the house girls and workers joined us was a happy moment reminding us of our mission among the young again. The boarders entertained with a short cultural program through song, dance and incidents from the life of St. Mary Mazzarello. The day was spent with thoughts of deep gratitude, praise, and love for the Lord.

Thank you God, I am healed !

DSC00829

I am Raja Digal, the son of Isaka and Kalimai Digal.  I am suffering from fewer blood counts in my body so every month I am in need of blood.  On 16th of July 2016 I had high fever due to less blood and doctor had told my mother to arrange blood for me.  Due to poverty my parents could not arrange for the blood and were in desperate, almost given hope.  Finally in the evening at 6.00pm, my mother run to sisters’ house and told the matter and requested to come and pray for me.  So the three sisters Shanti Tirkey, Prisca Bara and Ranjita Nayak with Mrs. Udyana Nanda, Atul Nanda and Sajan Nayak came and prayed for me.  They sprinkled and made me to drink the holy water over me and in our room.  Soon after it I was brightened up, I sat down and ate a piece of apple.  My parents, younger brother Thomas, my elder sisters Rani and Nireli were very happy.  We all thanked the Lord for giving my health back.  From that day my mother had a thought of offering a chicken to the sister.  And finally she managed to get the chicken on the 3rd of August.  I went with my mother to offer the chicken to the sisters as a token of my sincere gratitude to God and them.  Till today I am fine healthy and strong.  I and my family believe that I am healed from my sickness.

AINACS  Seminar

AINACS.

The 1st AINACS (All India Association of Catholic Schools) Seminar, 2016 was held at Kolkata, Nitika from 29th -31st July 2016 with the theme:”Gearing up for Effective Management and Administration of our Catholic Schools in the context of the current socio-political scenario and New Educational Policy”. 90 religious and priests from all over India participated in it. 10 sisters from the Kolkata province participated in this Seminar. The main resource person for these days was Fr. Joseph Manipadam sdb, Secretary to CBCI for Education and Culture.

The topics dealt with were the following:

  • Run up for the New Education Policy
  • Maintaining Relevance in Catholic Schools
  • Basics of School Administration regarding Service Rules, PF, ESI, Gratuity, Fee Fixation.
  • Child Right and Child Protection Policy
  • Church Response to the expected challenges.

Some inputs for the Draft Educational Policy 30th June 2016 were indicated by Smriti Irani – Ministry of human Resource Development – Govt, of india.

Worth mentioning and including was a Session by Fr. Joe Thannickal sdb, rector of Nitika on Quality Pastoral Leadership in our world, in our time , and in our local contexts where Scripture is our main inspiration “You received without charge, Give without charge” (Mt. 10:8) focusing on the positive qualities of giving viz¨1 generous, 2 whole hearted, 3. With love, avoiding the opposites, namely a group that is too calculating, grudging, or with hate in our hearts. Therefore to affirm this it starts with service, and grows with service, teaching us to serve God’s people effectively and with benefit for those we serve and for ourselves. A Catholic Climate response from the message of our Holy Father Pope Francis through Laudo Si was a great boost to realize the worth of Catholic education, as he quotes “Let us thank all those who teach in Catholic schools. Education is an act of love; it is like giving life. (Pope Francis) .  Fr. K.J.Antony sdb , National General Secretary, too put us on a strong pedestal when ,through his thought provoking sessions led us to realize who a true principal is.  Amazing! He/she, a VIP, called to be a Vision – Inspiration – Performer. He laid stress as to a principal being and Administrator and an Animator, for which the latter is very essential- to become “person centered” through discussion, sharing and relationship, thus making our schools ‘homes’ where a good atmosphere prevails.   Finally through the course of these days we also got to understand and realize that “Education is a Ministry , not a money making racquet” . The seminar was very informative, instructive and worthwhile. We are grateful to all the animators who led us through this great event these days keeping us informed that Education is always on the progress and dynamic in this new era.

Provincial Visit

From 17 -20 July 2016, Provincial Sr. Rose Ezarath made her visit at Auxilium, Barasat. The air was filled with festivity as the chapel and the entrance to the house was decorated creatively. We welcomed her with a garland and a bouquet of flowers and lead her to the chapel for a short prayer moment. It commenced with Sr. Rose lighting of lamps and handing over to each sister which we placed in front of the altar, as a symbol of our unity and docility to her. During her conference she exhorted the sisters to imitate Mother Mazzarello, especially her love for God. She also elaborated the meaning of the maxim of Mother Mazzarello “Let every stitch be an act of love of God.”

The boarders thanked her through a short programme. During the good night she showed them the life of Prophet Jonah and encouraged them to be responsible and pay heed to God’s call. The visit concluded with a thanks giving Mass.

Prov. visit School

On the 19th July 2016,  the Auxilians of Barasat had the privilege of welcoming Provinicial Sister Rose Ezareth, who was also the former Principal of Auxilium Barasat School.

The auditorium, which was built under Sister Rose’s watchful eye was the venue of this short programme. The event started after the short break with a graceful prayer dance which was followed by a cordial welcome speech by Debashree Pal of Class X – C and a small token of love to facilitate our Sr. Provincial in the form of cards and bouquets. Next our hearts were sent racing by the unconventional orchestra and beat boxing performed by the high schools boys. Following this was a skit that displayed the connection between our past, our present and our future through the theme being, “A lot can happen over a coffee”. Lastly the programme concluded with a breathtaking dance performance potraying historical essence and woman power. After the conclusion of the programme Sister Rose was requested to glorify the audience, with her golden words which she certainly did through a story about determination and faith.
