REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION at HCA Vasant Vihar

 On 25th January 2016, Pre-Republic day celebrations were held in HC Auxilium School, Vasant Vihar, to commemorate the 67th Republic Day of our nation. The programme commenced with a welcome speech by the school cultural leader, followed by an inaugural song ‘VANDE MA TARAM ‘  which instilled the feelings of patriotism among the students.

 ‘KAVI SAMMELAN’ competition was held in the school for the first time ever and was applauded and appreciated by the Principal, teachers and the students alike. It was a huge success. Three participants each from the four houses, participated with enthusiasm and recited the poignant poems on patriotism.DSCF2921

Mrs. Neeraj Jain, the Hindi teacher presented a self composed Hindi poem, ‘Netaji Ki Topi’, a satire on today’s politicians and their politics, which was enjoyed by everyone present.

Then was the much awaited Fancy Dress Competition, where the students came dressed up as freedom fighters and recited their slogans.T his was followed by a speech and stage presentation on the Freedom Movement by the students of std VIII.

The first prize for Hindi Recital, ‘KAVI SAMMELAN’ was bagged by Savio House and for the fancy dress competition Bosco House was the winner.

The Day’s programme culminated with the National Anthem sung by the School Cabinet and the audience present.

On 25th January 2016, the staff of Auxilium Kalyani went for a picnic to the Science City. They had a happy time viewing the beautiful ambience, screening a program at the space theatre, ride in the cable car which was adventurous and exciting, the Science technology that was very informative, instructive, interesting and enjoyable.

The second stop was at Auxilium Gobra for lunch. Everyone enjoyed a family atmosphere of joy and love. In all things give God thanks.

Past Pupils

The Past Pupils of Auxilium Dum Dum Unit gathered in ACS Dum Dum to celebrate Don Bosco’s Feast on 31st January 2016. The event was inaugurated by the Local Delegate, Sr. Esther, followed by a speech from the Council Secretary  Mrs. Sanghamitra Bhattacharya on the life of St. John Bosco.  The evening school children listened enthusiastically about of Don Bosco which was narrated in the simplest form and was encouraged to follow the desire of the great saint.

The Past Pupils catered lunch and fruit to 55 evening school children to commemorate the occasion. To mark the event as a memorable one the Past Pupils conducted sports among themselves followed by distribution of prizes in the end.

Don Bosco is honored at Auxilium Dum Dum

On 31 January 2016, the community of Auxilium Dum Dum celebrated the solemnity of Don Bosco together with the cooperators. Rev Fr. Vincent Mondol SDB, the Provincial bursar presided over the Holy Eucharist at 7.00 am.

On 31 January 2016, the students of Class VIII organized the Sports Day for the evening school Children at 1 pm. After the organization 9 events followed a short felicitation by the class VIIII students and by the evening school children. Prizes were awarded to the winners and consolation prize to all the participants. Everyone enjoyed the day with Don Bosco.

The red house celebrated the Feast of Don Bosco their patron saint. The programme commenced with a beautiful prayer service, during which complete Salesian family tree was depicted on stage. This innovative spirit of the red house members made everyone feel that we belong to a great Salesian family.  A skit was based on the theme of Don Bosco’s  mission to love. The plot of the skit revolved around the salvation of a prisoner, Richard. By listening to Don Bosco’s words and preaching’s he was saved and turned to live a good life. It was followed by a dance and a song in gratitude to God for Don Bosco, who loved music, entertainment, enjoyment, and celebration in the  Lord.   Superior Sr. Teresa Adampakallel, was invited on stage to free a dove as a symbol of peace, non violence and most yearned freedom. The programme was well appreciated by everyone present.  Sr. Superior thanked the Red house teachers and students for honoring Don Bosco with great love, expressing his message in such creative way.

AUXILIUM KALYANI: By the tireless effort, dauntless spirit and enthusiasm of Sr. Mary Sarkar, 30 children were prepared for the reception of the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist and 11 for Confirmation. Rt. Rev. Joseph Gomes, bishop Krishnagar administered the Sacraments.

In his brief homily he told the candidates for the Confirmation that they should be the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit and must build their lives on strong faith, stand by it and live by it in all circumstances.

To the first Communicants he said, ‘live by the 4 resolutions of St. Dominic Savio namely, receive the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist regularly; receive the Sacrament of reconciliation in a worthy manner; let Jesus and Mary be best friends and  “Death rather than sin. Nine boarders too received the Sacraments.

NAFMA Edumedym II

Group-InagurationNational FMA meeting of 3 sectors of Education, Media and Youth Ministry coined as NAFMA Edumedym  participated by the 3 national coordinators and provincial coordinators, was held in INC  Provincial House  Dum Dum on 28th and 29th January 2016.  The meeting was spearheaded by the Youth Ministry coordinator Sr. Elizabeth Kaniampadickal, in collaboration with Sr. Hilda Braganza the national Media Coordinator and the Sr. Stella Potteparambil the Education coordinator. The historic meeting commenced with an inaugural ceremony  – welcome speech by Sr. Teresa Adampakallel the vice provincial, lighting of the lamp  and  a mini cultural fiesta of song and dance by the students of Auxilium Dum Dum.

DSCN1375The programme then continued with the sharing of experiences : The national youth Ministry coordinator  gave the account of the bicentenary celebrations at Rome and others who participated in the bicentennial celebrations heightened the sharing with their own  distinctive  experiences.  Sr. Stella Potteparambil who participated in  in the world congress on catholic Education on the theme, ’Educating Today and Tomorrow- A renewed  Passion” held at Rome and Castelgandolfo in November 2015 from 18-21 on the occasion of the golden jubilee of the second Vatican Council Declaration Gravissimum educationis and the twenty fifth anniversary of the Catholic Apostolic Constitution  EX Corde Ecclesiae,presented a PPT   on the rich experience  of the entire procedures and the outcome of the meeting.

After the tea break the national coordinators of 3 sectors presented their report presented at the PCI meeting held on 1-3 September.   The provincial coordinators of Media, Education and Youth Ministry enriched all present with their recounting of the great initiatives accomplished in each province. Sr. Elizabeth George the PCI president was welcomed after the lunch break with a shawl and flowers.  The sharing session continued and Sr. Elizabeth Pothen enlightened the participants on:  how to make our schools exceptional with the tri – characteristics – quality, catholic and Salesian, well establishment of Educating community, the social dimension of Education and introduction of the thinking School academy.  At 3.15  p.m. the participants  engaged themselves in sector –wise meeting  planning  certain tactics  to make all our FMA Schools march as a unified force   transforming them into holistic and qualitative centres.  At 5 p.m. Sr. Elizabeth George the PCI president and provincial of  Guwahati delineated  methodically and clearly the Encyclical letter , “Laudato Si’ of the Holy Father Pope Francis on the care of the common Home, Mother earth through very interesting video clips and power point. The day ended with the Good night talk with   Sr. Runita Borja  Councillor for the youth Pastoral through skype.  Her appreciative words encouraged the participants to do ever better in their respective mission of animating others.  She pinpointed that engagement in education is also an act of mercy and encouraged all to be visible face of mercy through the Salesian assistance,  possessing the oratorian heart.

The second day’s highlight was an informative and illuminating session on the theme       ‘Merciful interventions in Education” delivered by Fr. Joseph   Thannickal SDB, Phd, Rector and Director Ongoing Formation Centre, Nitika Don Bosco.  He emphasized that the most apt attribute  and expression  of God is that of Mercy.  In his lecture he delineated the various components of being an effective educator :  Education to be pragmatic and realistic  one need to know  and integrate the holistic formula in exposure programmes, Expereince+Reflection+Action = Formation, create mercy centered education, set up merciful educational ambient, educative methodology to pass through mercy test, and do and don’ts to be  kept in mind in living our mission. Sr. Elizabeth Pothen thanked the PCI president  Sr. Elizabeth George for her edifying and unassuming presence and for her well planned session on Laudato si .  After the lunch  the participants had an exciting afternoon – an outing to the Tomb of Blessed Mother Theresa who will be canonized next September,   new market and visit to the shrine of Mary Help of Christians and tea at Auxilium Gobra.  After late supper they assembled again to evaluate and synthesize the outcome of the meeting.  The chroniclers readthe well prepared reportof both the days and the assembly thanked them for their wonderful recording of the events.

Every participant expressed her view  and  they could be summarized in the following points:-  profited much from sharing and  the sessions,the meeting was great resource bank, received practical guidelines, the family spirit experienced with one another and hosting community was marvellous.    The day ended with short thanksgiving ceremony thanking the  PCI for initiation, the 3 coordinators for organization, the INC provincial community for immense hospitality and availability manifested to each member,  the provinces for the  liturgical and prayer moments animation, the participants for their enthusiastic participation and gifting of a token  by INC Province.   So the NAFMA Edumedym II  came to a successful finale with each participant  leaving the sacred ground enthused to commence their combat to actualize the dreams, visions and deliberations’

Annual Team Meet

Province Team

From 23 – 26 January 2016, 15 Team members of FMA Kolkata Province gathered in the Provincial House, Auxilium Dum Dum for the Annual Team meet. The annual meet commenced with a meaningful moment of prayer. All the Sectors presented the report of the various activities carried out by them throughout the year. The presentation of the evaluation of the project at Province level booted the spirit of the Team members to walk an extra mile in the coming year.  Rest of the days were set apart to plan for the coming year – the vision and programme. The Team members were active, cooperative, and collaborative and open to the ideas and suggestions of one another. The hospitality offered by the community of Dum Dum is praiseworthy.

‘Hasta la Vista’ – Farewell

On 22 January 2016, the entire school of H.C. Auxilium Vasant Vihar came together to bid adieu to the exuberant and buoyant Std XII batch of 2015-16 and on the second day a party was organized. The comperes for the day were Vrinda Saxena and Alisha Gupta. The programme held in the beautifully decorated school auditorium and it commenced with the lighting of the lamp. An exquisite prayer dance was followed by a short prayer service to invoke the blessings of the Almighty on our beloved out-going seniors students.

The Bhangra dancers set the stage ablaze with their ardour and passion as the audience cheered and applauded. A movie depicting the various stages of school life was presented which aptly described the bonds made, the memories engraved and time well spent. It was evident that the movie struck a chord with each of our dear seniors.

There was simultaneous sharing from the representatives of each section of class XII, all of whom recounted their experiences in this institution and expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards the same.

A song titled “Always be Together” was sung, the words of which resounded the feelings of the students of Class XI toward their seniors – “….the circle will never end, just know that we’ll meet again…”, following which Class XI put up enthralling dance performances.

Principal Sr. Celine addressed the gathering, and wished the senior students good luck for their future, quoting,

‘Life is like a camera…

Focus  on what is important,

Capture  the good times,

And if things don’t work out,

Take another shot.

She further asked the girls to follow Don Bosco’s footsteps and be sincere, dedicated and good citizens. Not to forget, ‘Once an Auxilian, Always an Auxilian’.

The outgoing cabinet was felicitated. The Head Girl, Diksha Katoch gripped the audience with her account of school life, not failing to acknowledge the countless contributions made by all the sisters and teachers.  The vote of thanks marked the end of the programme.

On the second day of the Farewell Party was organized by the students of Class XI, where out- going Class XII students and all the staff members were invited for a dance and lavish lunch. The guests for the day, the young ladies of Class XII were dressed in their fineries and enjoyed every moment and thanked the hosts, Class XI students and teachers.

Celebrating Sports Day at Auxilium Kalyani

Sports Day.

 

Auxilium School, Kalyani celebrated Sports Day in view of the feast of St. John Bosco. The day commenced with a meaningful prayer moment which included the enactment of the first dream of Don Bosco. Sr. Geraldine in her message to the children said, ‘Don Bosco’s large heart was filled with mercy and compassion for his vagabonds that turned them from sinners to saints. This was his only and one great mission- to give him souls and take away the rest’. She exhorted them to live the Year of Mercy in their own small way. At 9 am the sports events kicked off. With the hoisting of the Bicentenary flag of St. John Bosco the Sports day was declared open. It was a very exciting and a happy moment for all to see the little ones waiting in eager anticipation for their respective event such as balloon race, ring race, flower girls, sack race, garlanding the bride, getting ready for school , obstacle races etc. Prizes were awarded to the winners. The day ended with a note of joy, happiness and contentment.
