Scouts and Guides ..

On 9th December 2015 the Scouts and Guides of St. Mary’s Convent School, Geyzing accompanied by two teachers left for Ganganagar, Kolkata for the National Integration Camp. There were 28 States present for the camp. It was a cultural exchange where the students from four corners of India came in order to share their views and ideas. We are proud to say that our school was chosen to represent the state of Sikkim in the National level. Our school was always praised by the organisers of the event for our punctuality, regularity, behaviour and discipline. We never went to bed without getting a ‘good or word of appreciation’. We followed the camp routine and gave our best in whatever we did. We learned lot of new things and experienced a lot and appreciated the beautiful culture of our country.

Scouts and Guides .Every State was asked to present various cultural programmes and we are so happy and proud to say that our School bagged the second Prize. We had a very good coordination among ourselves and so we were able to stand second among 28 states. We thank all our Sisters and teachers for giving us this opportunity and for teaching us many good things in the school. We went to visit some of the historical places in Kolkata and enjoyed thoroughly.

We returned on the 16th December with a Trophy, certificates and wonderful and unforgettable memories of the camp.

Christmas Celebration at Auxilium Convent School, Bandel

Crib

On 17th December 2015, Auxilium Convent School, Bandel was a hubbub of excitement as it was the day of judgement of the crib making competition. For the four houses, sites were allotted all around the school campus. Two and a half days time was allotted for crib making.

The houses were also busy preparing the live cribs. Students were given time to prepare the cribs till 17th December. The cribs were supposed to judge on 18th December. But the night of 17th December, saw a raging storm accompanied by heavy showers. It was a night of anxiety and apprehension for the students as well as teachers who spent the night pondering about the fate of their cribs.

Crib..But the morning of 18th was a day of miracles as everyone found that all their cribs were in perfect state. This doubled up their enthusiasm and they started preparing the live cribs. The Judges for the crib were invited from outside. The main- stage event began with the carols of the primary and junior classes followed by the carol singing and orchestra of the middle school and  the high school.

At the end of the event, Sr. Superior, Sr. Elizabeth announced the Green House as the winner of crib making competition and the Red & Green House as the joint winners for the live crib. The day came to an end with Sr. Superior delivering the Christmas message and wishing everyone happy holidays.

 

ANNUAL SPORTS DAY CUM PARENTS DAY At Auxilium Convent School Dum Dum

Sports Day ....

Auxzeal 2015, the sports meet of Auxilium Convent School, Dum Dum opened amidst a lot of interest and fanfare on the 11th December 2015, at Lichubagan Grounds, in Dum Dum, Kolkata. The first day of the two-day extravaganza was graced by the honourable Chief Guest, Most Rev. Thomas D’Souza, Archbishop of Kolkata and our Guest of Honour, Shri Harendra Singh, the Chairman of Dum Dum Municipality. The dignitaries were ushered in from the main gate to the dais by a group of Auxilians who gave them a ceremonial guard of honour. They were accompanied by Superior Sr. Teresa A. and Principal Sister Esther Rani. The august guests on the stage as well as parents and the other invitees were formally welcomed by Sister Principal who also emphasized the need of sports in the lives of modern youngsters and how sports can inculcate discipline and the spirit of sportsmanship in every individual. The guests were felicitated by our students who presented them with bouquet of flowers as mark of our gratitude and love.

 

Sports..........

After the welcome dance the, the primary pupils of Auxilium Convent School, Dum Dum, spread their angelic innocence through a number of items which included: the Honey Bunny Drill (Nursery), the Colourful Hands Drill (K.G), karate (class IV), Aerobics (class III), Lovely Little Flowers and finally the Mass Drill that brought together each and every student of the primary section. These presentations were interspersed with track and field events that witnessed faltering, fumbling tiny tots getting up in all seriousness and determination to complete their respective races. Mrs. Leena Raha was felicitated by Sister Superior for her contributions as a dance teacher in the school and helping out children in competing in numerous events. The earnestness of their efforts warmed every heart present. The same emotion was voiced by the Chief Guest in his speech at the end of events. The day came to an end with a Christmas message and singing of the national anthem.

Sports....

The second day of Auxzeal 2015 began with a lot of excitement and anticipation. The Chief Guest Prof. Maria Fernandes, the Vice- Chairperson of W. B. Minorities Commission, along with the Guest of honour Rev. Sister Rose Ezarath FMA, Provincial of Salesian Sisters, Kolkata and Superior Sister Teresa A.was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour and later felicitation.

In her welcome address, Sister Principal Esther not just welcomed the guests but also informed the august assembly of the equal priority given to sports and co-curricular activities in Auxilium Convent School, Dum Dum. Sister Esther reiterated that such a momentous occasion as that required careful planning for months, attention to details, remarkable coordination and above all intense practice.

The March past, and drills by the four houses- Blue, Green, Yellow, and Red, which were competitive this year, showcased all the points mentioned by her.

After the declaration of the sports meet open by the Chief Guest, the Lichubagan  Grounds, the venue for the meet, was occupied by one presentation after the other- the Welcome Dance (Suswagatam), Karate (classes VI and VII), House Drills based on different themes, and finally  the Mass Drill. In between there were track and field events which reflected the energy and enthusiasm of students to excel. The meticulous execution of these events brought about loud applause and cheer from the audience.

The Christmas message reminded everybody of the virtues of love and sacrifice in keeping with the festive season associated with Jesus’ birth.

Our Sister Superior, in a surprise announcement, felicitated Chandraja Guha of XII C and her parents for her cent percent attendance in the school since nursery. With this initiative, the Management of ACS, Dum Dum, seeks to inspire students to be regular and punctual in attending school as well as be active participants in all events in the school calendar. The Auxiband kept rhythm to the entire proceedings of the day.

The Chief Guest, in her speech, expressed her wonder at the performances hoping that parents would realize that only such a holistic vision of child development, as followed in ACS, Dum Dum, can ensure a steady future and equip girls proficiently in modern world. The scintillating programme came to a culmination after the vote of thanks and the national anthem. The participation of each and every student of the school, in some capacity or the other, ensured the success of Auxzeal, 2015.

Memorable day at Auxilium Aspirantate

Memorable dayOn 13th December 2015, was a memorable day for all of us at Auxilium Aspirantate. A day on which we commemorate St. Mary Mazzarello and also a day when we participated in the opening ceremony of the door of Mercy in the Basilica and the Shrine of Our Lady of the Happy Voyage and the five sisters of Auxilium Aspirantate received the new Constitutions during the solemn moment of our adoration from the hands of our Animator Sr. Leelamma Palliparambil. After which we recited the Profile of the FMA, as outlined by Don Bosco as well as the Spirit of our Origin to remind us all to make our community like that of Mornese. The Aspirants and the house staff too were present during this ceremony.

Commemoration of St. Mary MazzarelloCelebration

On 11th December 2015, Class VII C of Auxilium Convent School Bandel, portrayed the three virtues from St. Mary Mazzarello’s life which were self sacrifice, tolerance and generosity. It was presented through a meaningful sketch. In the skit, the student highlighted importance of prayer. They exhorted the audience to instill these virtues within them and to be living saints spreading the fragrance of peace and harmony, wherever they go and in whatever they do.

 STAFF PICNIC OF AUXILIUM CONVENT SCHOOL, BANDELDSC01404

On 12th December, 2015 Auxilium Convent School, Bandel organized a picnic for the teaching staff. The picnic spot was Amrakunja, Mankundu. Superior Sr. Elizabeth Valliyil, Principal Sr. Rejina Joseph & Vice-Principal Sr. Prisca Bara along with the teaching staff had a fun-filled day admiring the landscape, singing songs and playing various games. The teachers are appreciated the management and will cherish such an outing and are eagerly looking forward to many such days in future.

On 14 December 2015, Auxilium Convent School, Bandel, Past Pupil’s Association members conducted the Enrolment Ceremony for the outgoing ISC Students. During the prayer service, the outgoing pupils pledged earnestly to follow the values taught since childhood and be faithful to their Alma Mater by providing service to the under privileged of the society. They were offered Past Pupil’s Identity Card by the Principal Sr. Rejina and Sr. Teresa T. They also promised to be committed members of the association.

24 Learning to be teachers of Faith

First to tenth December at Nitika Don Bosco,

There gathered some twenty four  to acquire faith.

They all came with a lot of gusto,

So that they may be a guide to the Heavenly Gate.

 

Second to sixth was Fr. Gilbert’s days,

As he taught us various ways of methods and skills.

Everything on earth has some ways,

Bringing God here for all who got a will.

 

Movie, video, add and all had to give a lot about God,

Was the overall message that he showed.

Through magic, cards, Youcat, CCC and quiz, we learned,

To teach the love of God we owed.

 

Sixth afternoon we had a break,

As evening came with a greater thing.

Many came there with a wreck,

But all experienced a different being.

 

Songs and dances gave a nice blend,

To the following discussions that followed in.

Everyone seemed to be relaxed at the end,

So together we could relish the food preprayed.

 

Seventh was Fr. Joe’s turn to take up classes,

On Christian faith and meaning of life.

These classes helped us to understand,

That there is meaning in all we do and experience in life.

 

Eighth continued with the same type,

Freud, Maslow’s and Frankl’s teaching’s he taught.

All this teachings showed us the differences of views,

But to self- transcendence was the best he taught.

 

Then, there was the climax of our sessions,

When we got the news to go for an outing

It was the day of Our lady‘s Immaculate conception,

So we decided to visit the places with excitement.

First Victoria memorial, gave the historical touch,

To know our Kolkata more and more.

Mother’s tomb and Church at Gobra gave us a Godly experience,

To make us feel that God is above all.

 

Ninth we waited eagerly for the sessions,

As it was to be something about young.

It was now JTM’s turn,

To show us the Fathers Love in different forms.

 

It was not the only thing that we learned,

But also to love each other as one.

From many places we had come,

Yet, were glad to know that we were working for the ONE above.

 

Tenth we brought our thoughts together,

To see how much we had learned.

All shared, “It was enriching to be together”,

It was the fruit of the hard work that our fathers had done.

 

We express our thanks to God for the lovely days that He had given

Our superiors also we thank for giving us a chance to be a part of that event.

It’s now time to go ahead with our daily works with a thought,

That God’s love for all is ever NEW.

Exhibition held at Auxilium Convent School, Bandel

Exhibition

The students of Auxilium Convent Bandel conducted the Exhibition on 26 -27 November, 2015. The exhibition which believed in creatmite, Talent, Habilete which translates to creativity, Talent and skill, was inaugurated by the Honourable Chief Guest, Mr. Jagannath Banerjee, the CEO of the Academy of Technology. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Anadita Banerjee. They were escorted to the school portico by the school Guides Rajya Purashkar recipients. In the presence of Principal, Sr. Rejina Joseph, Superior Sr. Elizabeth, the chief guest declared the opening of the Exhibition. The inauguration ceremony witnessed the slow march of the Club Cabinet consisting of the Club President, Vice President and Secretary, carrying the logos of their respective clubs. The slow march was followed by the releasing of the hot air balloon made by a student of class VIII, Harsha Bihaani.

The exhibition was organized by the various clubs, exhibiting their models which spoke volumes of the talents, intellects and ideas of the students. The Science Club amazed the guests and parents through their innovative scientific experiments. The Dance Club portrayed various dance forms through dry as well as live models, the guests departed from the Literary Club after a voyage through the power of imagination and words. The Music Club displayed hand-made models of various musical instruments, the Geography Club presented the idea as to how powerful nature can be. The Art Club exhibited paintings, art pieces and jeweler made by students, the Sports Club imparted knowledge on various games from around the world and The Cyber Club display of socially burning issues like internet security and social networking left the guests in awe.

Along with the demonstrations, the Music Club, Dance Club and Literary Club conducted live performances in the school hall which filled the ambience with cultural extravaganza. The Music Club members sang melodies of all decade which filled the atmosphere with musical aroma, the Dance Club members took the audience on a short trip through the world of performing arts and the Literary Club staged a theatrical representation on the life of Malala Youso fzai, the youth icon.

These two-day experiences enriched the intellects of the students as well as the visitors in the best way possible and everyone took home memories to cherish forever and a day.

 

MOOT COURT COMPETITION

Competition

On Monday, 7th December 2015 two girls from HC Auxilium School participated in UKASE, the Inter-school Moot Court competition, held at DPS RK Puram. This competition aims to provide the students with a platform where they mix the thrill of competition with a great learning experience. This event will go a long way in broadening the horizons of students when it comes to first-hand experience of the ‘Court Room’.

The students had to prepare and argue the cases given before hand in front of the judges. The contestants were invited to pick the draw of lots to determine ‘defendant’ and ‘plaintiff ‘. The cases like loss of values are the reason for road rage incidents, close relations being attacked in matters of greed and lust, legal procedures being misinterpreted to favour accused in high profile cases etc.

Both Vrinda Saxena and Anuvinda Namboodiri of XI standard competed with eight teams from different schools of Delhi, qualified three rounds and bagged the First Position. They received a certificate of appreciation and a Trophy each for their performance.

Celebrations at Auxilium Mirik  – Immaculate Conception and Christmas

Christmas celebration

On 8th December 2015, the boarders together with the sisters and the house staff honored our blessed Mother with the recital of the Holy Rosary with much devotion and fervor. It was followed by the Christmas celebration. Children enacted a short Christmas play.  Sr. Cecilia Kollappally in her message spoke about the importance of venerating and loving our Blessed Mother and how to celebrate Christmas meaningfully in their homes.

On 8th December 2015, the Catechism students of Auxilium Convent School, Bandel commemorated the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The students performed skits to highlight the importance of the Feast of Immaculate Conception. Class IX acted the apparition of Our Lady to St. Bernadette. Class X presented Don Bosco’s meeting with Bartholomew Garilli. Students concluded celebration by singing a hymn to Don Bosco.
