Rejoice in Verse

Pope FrancisRejoice

In this year of consecrated Life

Let us hearken to the invitation

Be glad, rejoice, and radiate joy

For we  are the chosen one.

Proclaim the joy of nearness to God

Delight in what has been created by God

Exult embracing the past and future

That the messianic joy may be in you

Pope Francis said to the seminarians

There is no holiness in sadness

For joy is the beauty of consecration

An ornament and life’s foundation.

In this year of consecrated Life

We are not called to witness epic feats

Or  to proclaim high sounding words

But witness to the joy of being God’s

Let us enter the school of the Master

To be taught how to live perfect joy

To be messengers of hope and serenity

To give God’s tenderness to humanity

Our calling is so great for God Says

You are important to me, I love you

Jesus looks at each one and says

You did not choose me but I chose you

In this year of consecrated Life

Jesus invites us to make an exodus

From ourselves to  centre  on Jesus

Till we  no longer live but Christ lives in us

Pope Francis invites us on a pilgrimage

To discover ourselves on streets of Palestine

To be in the boat with the Galilean fishermen

To be by the tax collectors  desk near the road

Pope Francis invites us to be with Jesus

When the nets were left to follow him

It is good to set out to follow this Master

Who alone has words of eternal life

In this year of consecrated life

Pope Francis calls us to pause

To recall the meaning of our vocation

And respond anew to the call of love

Go on nourished by the restless searching

Aware of the gratuity of the gift of vocation

Reread our own personal story   our call

Scrutinize it in the light of God’s loving gaze

Pope Francis reminds, exalts and exhorts

Consecrated life is  a call to incarnate Good News

Is a call to follow Christ crucified and Risen

Is a call to taken on Jesus way of living & acting

In this year of Consecrated Life

Make Christ the seal of our hearts & foreheads

Listen to the continuous call to be made like him

Imbibe his integrity, his simple daily generosity.

Encounter the Lord and leave aside self-absorption

Let not the relationship with the Lord be static

Put Christ at the centre to open ourselves to others

To be at the service of the Lord and the Church

We are in an era of crisis of fidelity in consecrated life

We are also in a crisis of humanization & inconsistency

We face discontent and bitterness,  enclosing in remorse

Our relationship  turned into a uninhabited wilderness

So revisit the deep centre of our personal life

Find motivation of our life with  Jesus our Master

To be set free from inner emptiness and loneliness

To be faithful disciple who practice sacrificial charity

Lord calls us to follow him with courage and fidelity

Lord  invites us to proclaim him with joy and passion

Lord asks us to do so by word and witness of our lives

Lord asks us strip of idols and worship him alone

Pope presents prayer as the source of fruitfulness

So contemplate even amid the whirlwind of duties

Pope invites us to renew our vocation with passion

Till it matures and matures in loving activity

In this year of consecrate life

In a world of distrust, discouragement and depression

In a culture enveloped in fragility and weakness

In a domain where individualism and self-interest is wild

We are called to bear witness to the mercy of God

We are called to attract people towards good

We are called to bring God’s consolation to others.

We are called to bring everyone the embrace of God

We are witnesses of communion beyond our limits

We are to wear God’s smile, humanize our community

For community is most believable Gospel we can preach

So make our communities a family and not a purgatory

We are called to undertake an Exodus out of ourselves

We are called to set out on a path of adoration and service

Have courage to go against the culture of efficiency

And encounter everyone in solidarity and fraternity

Let us then hearken to Pope Francis invitation

Be servants of communion and the culture of encounter

Leave and cosy nests and walk into the peripheries

Be witness of a different way of acting and loving

Embrace with passion the task of waking up the world

DON BOSCO BICENTENARY CELEBRATIONS CURTAINS DRAWN AT HOLY CHILD AUXILIUM SCHOOL R.K.PURAM, NEW DELHI

Bi-centenary celebrations, R.K.Puram, 31.07.2015 (2)2014 – 2015 was a great and memorable year in the Salesian Diary. It marked the celebration of the Bicentenary of the birth of our Founder and Father Don Bosco. All over the world the Salesians held various programmes to honour this great Saint who worked tirelessly for the young and abandoned youth.

At  Holy Child Auxilium ,R.K.Puram too, various activities were held to mark the 200th birth anniversary of Don Bosco.   Every  class was assigned the task of conducting  the morning assembly . The children recited poems, read out thoughts, chanted slogans and sang songs in honour of the great saint.

A poster competition for the students of Class III, IV & V  and a colouring competition for Nursery, K.G , Class I  & II was organized . The children had to surf the internet and find out more about Don Bosco and draw or stick pictures of the saint. The best posters and art work were awarded certificates.

To culminate this great event a two day programme was planned out.  31st July, 2015  was set aside for a prayer service, remembering what Don Bosco said, ‘All armies are useless unless assisted by God’ . A fun day for the tiny tots of Nursery  and K.G  was also held on this day.

The prayer service began with the lighting of the lamp by Sr.Lily P. the Superior, Sr. Asha  Kerketta the Headmistress and Sr. Alphonsa  the Adminstrator. The students of Class V then walked in dressed in their white uniform with colourful scarves which bore the Bicentenary Logo. They carried artistically designed paper candles to depict and portray the light of Don Bosco throughout the world. The children enacted the song “Carry Your Candle”. The children then offered their prayers to the Lord and invoked His blessings on all. This was followed by a well synchronized prayer dance to the tune of “Here I come to worship”.

A well decorated board depicting the Bicentenary Logo and thoughts of Don Bosco also adorned the ground.

Finally to end the Prayer service a vibrant celebration dance was performed by the children holding colourful pompoms. They danced to the tune of “We are the children of Don Bosco”.

Sr. Superior then spoke to the children thanking them for the marvellous performance and exhorted them to walk in the footsteps of our Great Founder.

The second day , 1st August was a day of fun and frolic as the children were geared up for the much awaited “Don Bosco Mela” at the Junior school grounds.

An innovative venture by our Principal, Sr.Celine, to bring the Junior and Senior school together to organize and conduct various activities , bore fruit on this day as the teachers of both the schools collaborated to make the “Don Bosco mela” a grand success.

To begin with, the students of the Senior school presented a beautiful rendition of the song “ We are the World”.It was a joy to see the talent of the students as they played various instruments and sang melodiously, telling us that we have to make the world a better place by being sensitive to the poor and sick and helping those in need just as Our Founder, Don Bosco did.DB 200..

Following this,  a spectacular enactment of one of the dreams of Don Bosco was made by the students of Class XI. The students of the Junior school watched with rapt attention as the dream unfolded beautifully.

This dreams showcased the love Don Bosco had for his Heavenly Mother and how every moment of his life, our Lady played a stellar role in driving Don Bosco towards the realization of his dream.DB 200

Sr.Lily then thanked the Senior School Teachers and Students for their wonderful performance and then formally declared the “Don Bosco Mela” open.

The mela had many stalls which dished out tasty and yummy food for the little ones . Game stalls were also put up where the children tested their skills and won prizes. The lucky dip and the accessories stall was also a crowd puller. After enjoying the eats the children cooled themselves at the ice cream stall. There was also a Dance floor where the children danced to their heart’s content to various English and Bollywood tunes.

The day was enjoyed thoroughly by the sisters, teachers and students.

Indeed it was a celebration which made the bicentenary of our founder a memorable one. And with this grand finale, Holy Child Auxilium, R.K.Puram drew the curtains to the celebrations of the Bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco keeping in mind his precious message, “Jump, play, run, shout but do not sin”.

Gratitude day celebration –  Auxilium School Dum Dum

Gratitude day ...Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It is regarded as a virtue that shapes not only emotions and thoughts but also actions and deeds. We, the Auxilians of classes IX to XII expressed our gratitude towards Sr. Superior Teresa Adampakallel and other sisters and teachers on 24th July, 2015 by putting up a short program  for them. The theme chosen for this great day was  “Radiate rays of God’s love”. The  program started  with a short speech by our school captain who thanked sister Superior for all her love and support. She also thanked  Sister Principal, other sisters, teachers and the non teaching staff for their constant guidance and support. Soon after this, cards and bouquets were presented  to Sr. Superior as a token of our  love and gratitude. After this there was a PowerPoint presentation which  included a prayer dance showing gratitude towards God. The true essence of gratitude was brought out through a skit titled  ‘ The  Bishop’s candlesticks’. Sr. Superior nourished us with her golden words inspiring us to be grateful to our elders,  and to be most grateful to God who has given us so much love and guidance. She also said, not just utter words of gratitude but to live by them which we will  surely follow.

Gratitude Day....The Middle  school programme started with a short prayer service, where we thanked God for  our beloved school, family, nation and world. There was a speech in which we expressed our heartfelt  gratitude towards Sr.Superior  for her love and guidance. We felicitated her with bouquets, and cards. We also presented a token of our love in the  form of clothes, stationeries, exercise copies etc  for the underprivileged of correctional Home, Dum Dum. The programme rolled on to a choral recitation by the middle school portrayed with dance, emphasizing on God and the virtues of love and obedience, followed by a beautiful dance which portrayed the  five elements of life. And a fusion of songs which told of kindness of God during the capture of Jerusalem. Sr. Superior inspired us with her pristine words encouraging  us to thank God  for the elements of Life.

Gratitude Day.The tiny tots of the primary section  programme commenced with a short prayer service that expressed gratitude to Sr. Superior, Sisters and teachers. They performed a skit  entitled “Thank you Ma’am,” that conveyed  the message of how one can bring a positive change in the lives  of others. A chau dance  that left us all with the message of saving tigers and trees. The enlightening words of Sister Superior completed the day’s programme. All the efforts of the students and teachers were appreciated by her.

A spray of rainbow colours and melodies rang out  in the little cute hearts of pre- primary as they celebrated the gratitude day. They performed action songs thanking and spreading God’s love, also  thanking Him for Sr.Superior . At the end of the programme she shared a note of appreciation for the enjoyable day.Gratitude day..

This programme on the 16th July 2015 was an endevour on the part of the Barasat Auxilians to spread our Founder and Father, Don Bosco’s mission to educate young children. The inaugural programme included a beautiful musical on Don Bosco- BOSCO ALIVE.  Sr. Rose Ezarath, the provincial of INC Kolkata province was the chief guest of the event and she declared the AUXI AURA ’15 open.

We had our neighbourhood schools coming in to participate in a host of cultural, educational and innovative events. International Public School, Sudhir Memorial Institute, Aditya Academy Senior Secondary, Adamas World School, Julien day School, Purba Barasat Adarsha Vidyapeeth, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial and Sankar Math O’ Mission wer the schools who competed with each other as also with us to bag various titles and prizes. It was a quest to sort out the best schools as also to uphold Don Bosco’s Maxim ‘ACT AS A SHINING LIGHT TO OTHERS.’  It was revelation of young talents as students engaged themselves in Mask – making, producing the best out of waste, painting and story writing. Little children showed their sudden impact within a fraction of 2 minutes, twisted and turned their bodies in Auxi star, better known as ‘Two Minutes to Fame. On stage  events had ecstatic participants searing the stage with their exuberant performances, like Auxi – Aradhana (Prayer song with action), Auxi –Exquizzit (Quiz), Auxi –Pep Up (Indipop) and Auxi Jhoomer an initiative to revive classical folk dance. We had Auxi – Floraux, Vibgyora, and other floral events intended to fill the fest with an essence of divinity. Auxi – Jhankar had undoubtedly made mellifluous hymns to enliven our souls.
