Celebrations at Auxilium Mirik  – Immaculate Conception and Christmas

On 8th December 2015, the boarders together with the sisters and the house staff honored our blessed Mother with the recital of the Holy Rosary with much devotion and fervor. It was followed by the Christmas celebration. Children enacted a short Christmas play.  Sr. Cecilia Kollappally in her message spoke about the importance of venerating and loving our Blessed Mother and how to celebrate Christmas meaningfully in their homes.

On 8th December 2015, the Catechism students of Auxilium Convent School, Bandel commemorated the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The students performed skits to highlight the importance of the Feast of Immaculate Conception. Class IX acted the apparition of Our Lady to St. Bernadette. Class X presented Don Bosco’s meeting with Bartholomew Garilli. Students concluded celebration by singing a hymn to Don Bosco.

The bright dawn of 4th December 2015 brought life and cheer in the hearts of the Auxilians of Barasat as it was observed as the Sports Day and the Inauguration of the Silver Jubilee celebration. The programme started at 8.30 am with the inaugural dance performed symbolically and meaningfully, specially honouring Auxilium with the formation of ACS 25. The March past and house drills were performed with much competitive spirits. The house drills were indeed a breath-taking performance by the students of different houses. Ms. Manmeet Nanda IAS,24 North Parganas, was the chief guest for the occasion. She appreciated the initiative of the school in forming the minds and hearts of the students. Indeed she challenged the students to be disciplined and responsible for the good and development of the nation. To concentrate more on the good that is being done in and by the country rather than the evil things projected through the Mass Media. India is rich in man power so make use of it to build better India, by contributing the best from ones side. She also encouraged them to develop their talents and be great in future; for tomorrows India depends on today’s students.

Many students took part in various events held, both class and house events and won many prizes and medals. The non-participants too were very active in cheering their respective groups. The overall best house trophy was bagged by Yellow house. In this way the whole hearted cooperation and participation of students, and encouragement of sisters, teachers and parents brought to its end the sports day celebration 2015 and added sweet memory in the life of Auxilium Barasat.

Christmas celebration at Auxilium Mirik

Christmas Mirik

The little ones of Auxilium Mirik celebrated Christmas together with their parents before the closing of the school for winter vacation.

They presented a good number of carols and nursery rhymes in English and Nepali. Children enacted the scene of Bethlehem. Parents enjoyed the performance and the singing of their little ones.

Sr. Cecilia Kollappally in her message to the parents spoke about the meaning of Christmas and the Year of Mercy declared by the Pope Francis.

Orientation Programme

On 5th  December 2015, an orientation programme was organised by Parwarish Institute of Parenting and Teacher Training in collaboration with the Bharati Bhawan Publishers and Distributers at HC Auxilium School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi for the benefit of the Teaching Faculty of both R K Puram and Vasant Vihar.

The Principal Sr. Celine A welcomed the guest speakers and introduced them to the audience. During the four and a half hours interactive session the resource persons Mr. Sushant Kalra, the founder and director of the Parwarish Institute, and Ms Deepti with Ms Chanchal talked about how to conduct the class room activities, diagnose the difficult areas of students and how to solve it.

To break the ice the team of resource persons introduced the faculty members to interesting games, such as ‘stone, paper and scissors’ followed by ‘egg, chick and rooster’. After the large number of audience was divided into smaller groups, each group was given to prepare and present a lesson.

The resource persons emphasized the benefits of integrated teaching and discussed the difficulties faced by the Faculty members during the teaching-learning process. They further stressed upon giving a chance to the students to think out of the box as the students of today are well informed.

The programme was highly informative and will help in planning and executing integrated lessons effectively. The guests were thanked and presented the mementos.

Annual Day celebration at Auxilium New Chumta

 

Annual Day

On 24th November 2015 Auxilium Convent School, New Chumta celebrated the Annual Day in the School auditorium. The Chief Guest of the celebration Rt. Rev. Vincent Aind, the Bishop of Bagdogra diocese and the FMA provincial of Kolkata Sr. Rose Ezarath were welcomed to the venue with the band led by the Scouts and guides of the school. About 1200 parents were present for the occasion. Annual Day..Students   expressed their love and gratitude towards their parents through the stage programme consisted of songs, dances and drama based on the life of Don Bosco. The chief guest in his talk exhorted the parents to teach their children to learn and live the values lived by Don Bosco. He encouraged the parents to teach their children to keep themselves clean by quoting “cleanliness is next to Godliness.” The parents were happy and motivated.

Visit to the Earth Saviours Foundation

On 3rd December 2015, almost 40 students of Standard VII H.C. Auxilium Vasant Vihar, accompanied by Sr.Theresina, Ms. Preet & Ms. Ribu, visited  the Earth Saviours Foundation, to learn Sharing and Caring, under the Joy of Giving Week Celebration.

Mr. Ravi Kalra is the founder and president of the Earth Saviours Foundation, situated in Bandhwari Village, Gurgaon-Faridabad Road, near Teri Golf Course, District Gurgaon, It is an internationally organized NGO. The foundation is dedicated to serve less privileged people, destitute children, abandoned senior citizens, victimized women and mentally disabled people. Also, this foundation is making every possible effort to protect the environment.

The children voluntarily contributed for the packaged eatables. Students presented a short programme for the NGO people to give them happiness and joy. Students really liked that place and they were very much impressed. They expressed their wish to visit that place once again with their family members and friends. It was actually a meaningful visit to make the children realize the real meaning of sharing and caring with the people in truly in need.

Celebrating togetherness

Community DayOn 25th November 2015, the boarders and sisters of St. Anthony’s Convent “Nirmala Niketan” celebrated the community day. The day began with the Holy Eucharistic celebration, specially praying for all the intensions of Sr. Lily D’Souza the animator of the community. The community day further drew the sisters and boarders together as they had their meal together.

Happiness overwhelmed everyone when the boarders had their games organized by the sisters. The boarders thoroughly enjoyed playing journey by air route and the other games. The games brought an air of thrill and energy to all.Community Day ..

Finally the day ended after a short stage program by the boarders. Wishes and gifts were presented to Sr. Lily by all the boarders, the residential teachers and co-workers as their token of love.  At last a movie ‘Life is beautiful’ was shown to all.  The day’s celebration brought joy, happiness and feeling of love in each and everyone.

Christmas Carol Singing Competition 

Carol singingOn 29th November 2015, Aspirants participated in the Christmas Carol Singing Competition which was held in the parish church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Barasat. It was organized by the Parish Priest and his team. Ten groups participated in the competition – RNDM candidates, Charity Sisters, Providence sisters, YCS, Youth movement, Women association, Auxilium Aspiratate etc. The aspirants presented the singing in three different languages such as English, Hindi and Uriah. Aspirantants melodious blending voices and active presentation led them to attain the 1st prize. They were happy to proclaim the coming of Jesus through our singing.  It was the great and memorable day and we raise our hearts and minds to thank the Lord for this day.

Seminar for Animators and Administrators

Seminar

Seminar for Animators and Administrators was held from 27 – 29 November 2015 at Auxilium Convent, Dum Dum Provincial house. The Seminar began with a prayer service inviting us to listen, reflect, renew and venture in order to make our communities a home and to be missionaries of hope and joy.

Provincial Sr. Rose Ezarath in her welcome address invited the participants to bear witness to the joyful living of our Consecrated life referring to the talk of Sr. Vilma Tallone, the Economer General which was delivered during PCI. She stressed about the filial, radical and ecological poverty.

Sr. Annie Thevarkunnel the Provincial Economer coordinated the entire meeting of the Animators and the Administrators. Sr. Annie presented in detail the meeting with Sr. Vilma Tallone, Economer General at PCI level focusing on the theme “Communion of Goods and Solidarity at the service of the Mission”.

We were privileged to have Mr. Ashis Agarwal updating us on the present scenario on Income Tax /Societies etc and Mr. Sanjay Mukherjee who gave us practical tips on how to handle the house accounts with diligence, accuracy and accountability.

At a very opportune moment in an atmosphere of prayer Sr. Rose Ezarath our provincial handed to the sisters the Constitutions which was revised   in order to harmonize the text with the new demands of our Institute in fidelity to the guidelines of the church. While giving the Constitutions, Sr. Rose exhorted each one to make our communities “houses of the love of God” as we read the ‘Profile of the FMA’ and the ‘Spirit of the Origins’ together.

  • Rose Kureekattu and Sr. Nirmala Tigga shared on the 3 Day National Seminaron the theme “Consecration and Mission” held in October 30, 31 and Nov 01, 2015 in Don Bosco Skill Mission Centre (Don Bosco Renewal Centre campus), Bangalore. They stressed on how each one is called to be consecrated missionaries and joyful agents of evangelization to relive in our lives the mysteries of Christ and share Him joyfully with others as the Saviour of humankind.
  • Stella Potteparambil, who attended the World Congress for Catholic Education held in Rome, 18-21 November 2015 on the theme “Educating Today and Tomorrow A renewing passion” on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Second Vatican Council’s Declaration Gravissimum Educationis and on the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Apostolic Constitution Ex Corde Ecclesiae. As an outcome she highlighted how we are called to perform the works of mercy in education through our educational works.
  • Lily D’Souza, Sr. Leelamma Palliparambil, Sr. Rosalia Tirkey and Sr. Lucy Mannooukulangara shared about the Seminar on ‘Formation of Formators’ which was held from October 11 – 20, 2015 at CRI house New Delhi and they drove home the message how as Formators  one is called to mirror in one’s day to day life  the joy of her Consecration.
  • Mary Ann Abraham and Sr. Teresa Adampakallel shared their rich experience on West Bengal – Sikkim Regional BRBC – CRI – CDP annual meet  with the theme “Catholic Family: Leaven in today’s world”.

Communities of Mirik,  Aspirantate and  Palam Gaon were accorded with prizes for promptly carrying out the initiatives proposed by the Social Communication Sector of the Province. A booklet on the Proper Offices of the Salesian Saints compiled by Sr. Mini Mary Chettayil, Provincial Secretary was released and highly appreciated by all.Winners - Quiz competition

Finally the seminar came to an end with the concluding words from Provincial Sr. Rose Ezarath who exhorted us to work together to bring young people to Jesus.  Before departure prayerful greetings were expressed towards Sr. Rose for the feast of Immaculate Conception and Christmas as Sr.Rose would be leaving for Rome to attend the new Provincial’s course.
