
Seminar for Animators and Administrators was held from 27 – 29 November 2015 at Auxilium Convent, Dum Dum Provincial house. The Seminar began with a prayer service inviting us to listen, reflect, renew and venture in order to make our communities a home and to be missionaries of hope and joy.
Provincial Sr. Rose Ezarath in her welcome address invited the participants to bear witness to the joyful living of our Consecrated life referring to the talk of Sr. Vilma Tallone, the Economer General which was delivered during PCI. She stressed about the filial, radical and ecological poverty.
Sr. Annie Thevarkunnel the Provincial Economer coordinated the entire meeting of the Animators and the Administrators. Sr. Annie presented in detail the meeting with Sr. Vilma Tallone, Economer General at PCI level focusing on the theme “Communion of Goods and Solidarity at the service of the Mission”.
We were privileged to have Mr. Ashis Agarwal updating us on the present scenario on Income Tax /Societies etc and Mr. Sanjay Mukherjee who gave us practical tips on how to handle the house accounts with diligence, accuracy and accountability.
At a very opportune moment in an atmosphere of prayer Sr. Rose Ezarath our provincial handed to the sisters the Constitutions which was revised in order to harmonize the text with the new demands of our Institute in fidelity to the guidelines of the church. While giving the Constitutions, Sr. Rose exhorted each one to make our communities “houses of the love of God” as we read the ‘Profile of the FMA’ and the ‘Spirit of the Origins’ together.
In the course of the meeting sisters who attended various courses and seminars shared with the assembly their rich experiences.
- Rose Kureekattu and Sr. Nirmala Tigga shared on the 3 Day National Seminaron the theme “Consecration and Mission” held in October 30, 31 and Nov 01, 2015 in Don Bosco Skill Mission Centre (Don Bosco Renewal Centre campus), Bangalore. They stressed on how each one is called to be consecrated missionaries and joyful agents of evangelization to relive in our lives the mysteries of Christ and share Him joyfully with others as the Saviour of humankind.
- Stella Potteparambil, who attended the World Congress for Catholic Education held in Rome, 18-21 November 2015 on the theme “Educating Today and Tomorrow A renewing passion” on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Second Vatican Council’s Declaration Gravissimum Educationis and on the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Apostolic Constitution Ex Corde Ecclesiae. As an outcome she highlighted how we are called to perform the works of mercy in education through our educational works.
- Lily D’Souza, Sr. Leelamma Palliparambil, Sr. Rosalia Tirkey and Sr. Lucy Mannooukulangara shared about the Seminar on ‘Formation of Formators’ which was held from October 11 – 20, 2015 at CRI house New Delhi and they drove home the message how as Formators one is called to mirror in one’s day to day life the joy of her Consecration.
- Mary Ann Abraham and Sr. Teresa Adampakallel shared their rich experience on West Bengal – Sikkim Regional BRBC – CRI – CDP annual meet with the theme “Catholic Family: Leaven in today’s world”.
Communities of Mirik, Aspirantate and Palam Gaon were accorded with prizes for promptly carrying out the initiatives proposed by the Social Communication Sector of the Province. A booklet on the Proper Offices of the Salesian Saints compiled by Sr. Mini Mary Chettayil, Provincial Secretary was released and highly appreciated by all.
Finally the seminar came to an end with the concluding words from Provincial Sr. Rose Ezarath who exhorted us to work together to bring young people to Jesus. Before departure prayerful greetings were expressed towards Sr. Rose for the feast of Immaculate Conception and Christmas as Sr.Rose would be leaving for Rome to attend the new Provincial’s course.

On 24th November 2015, forty students of Class XII went to Shanti Avedna Sadan, where cancer patients are taken care of. The Sadan was first established in Bandra, Mumbai by LJ D’suza and then in Goa. In 1994 it was brought to Delhi by Holy Cross Sisters.On entering the Sadan, the children gave the supplements they had collected for the patients. They were warmly welcomed and shown a video, which reflected the lives of the patients in the Shanti Avedna Sadan. The students first visited the men’s ward and sang hymns and interacted with them. Next, they visited the women’s ward, where they conducted a short prayer service to seek blessings from the Lord make their life happier.The students returned realizing the true value of life.
On 26th November 2015, almost 35 tudents of Standard VIII, accompanied by the principal,
Sr Celine A, Ms Sussi and Ms Ajanta paid a visit to Nirmal Jyoti, an organisation which helps differently abled children in Vasant Kunj.The students interacted with the differently abled children and experienced life with a different angle. Seeing the joy and smiles on their faces, they realised how fortunate they are and that sharing gives an eternal pleasure.They shared biscuits, cold creams, oil and adult diapers. It was an enriching experience that the students will cherish for life.



Auxilium Convent School, Barasat observed the Media week from 16th – 20th of November. During the week various competitions were held for entire school. A series of competitions were organised by media club: For classes I-V poster making on the theme- “Communicating through arts”, for Classes: VI – VIII collage making on the theme –“Communicating through Mass Media”, for classes IX-XII debate on the theme- “Family is a privileged place of encounter” and also the Science Exhibition for Middle and High School on the topic- “Science; a gift of God”. All four houses selected their best participants to excel in the competitions. Among all competitions the debate and Science exhibitions were very exciting. The participants of Debate spoke very efficiently and with much conviction as they brought out many current issues in their speeches. The moderator conducted the event very effectively. The Science – Exhibition participants displayed their working models innovatively on 20th of November as the culmination of the Media week celebration. Sr. Rose Simon and Sr. Rosy the principal inaugurated the Science exhibition and encouraged the young scientists. The honourable judges Ms. Jisha Mathew and Ms. Rishita judged justly on the basis of presentation, explanation and model, encouraging their talents and creativity. The messages conveyed by the Media week celebration lingers in the memory lanes of the young Auxilians.
On the occasion of the ‘Value Education week’ the Auxilians of Barasat from classes I- XII portrayed the theme “Care for our Common Home” from 7th October to 18th November. Both Primary and high school separately had their theme presentation during the assembly. Every class tried their best to present in the best way possible. Lots of charts and placards were displayed in and around the campus depicting the theme and the tips to respect and care for the Mother earth. Some of the classes had cleanliness drive in and outside the campus. Many students composed poems & recited, sang the self-composed songs and skilful skits were displayed which were obviously thought provoking. Some classes planted saplings and others watered the plants and others bought dustbin to keep the campus clean.
Starting from classes I &XII all said a prayer for the mother earth and acknowledged the role of earth in making life a comfortable one. The value education week with its appropriate theme made everyone realise the present situation: pollution, unusual weather & climate and other natural calamities and disasters. Being aware of the situation many classes pledged to be responsible in caring for the common home so to preserve, conserve and protect it. The ‘International Year of Soil – 2015’ has left a remarkable thought and awareness in the minds of Auxilians.
BANGALORE: The long awaited day for eighteen Junior Sisters (12 from Kolkata Province and 6 from Bangalore Province) came into reality at Sacred Heart Convent, Bangalore, called the Garden City, as they began the 1st phase of the Second Novitiate. The Inaugural Ceremony began with the Holy Eucharist presided over by Fr. Shabu Thuttunkal SDB. In his homily he emphasized upon the Consecrated Life and the role of Holy Spirit who is the real teacher and guide in our life. Fr. Shabu encouraged us to read and deepen the Holy Bible, through which God speaks to us.
The maiden visit of Sr. Rose Ezarath our new Provincial took place on the 17th to 19th November 2015 in St. Mary’s, Geyzing. There was lot of joy and excitement as we awaited the arrival of Sr. Rose to the beautiful land of Sikkim for the first time. On the 17th, she arrived at 5.30 p.m. accompanied by Sr. Annie Thevarkunnel, the Provincial Economer. The Sisters and the boarders gave a typical welcome to Sr. Rose with khadas and lively welcome song. We then proceeded to the chapel for a moment of prayer and invited Sr. Rose to light the lamp symbolizing the presence of Christ.
The Community conference and the good night talk given by Sr. Rose was inspiring, enriching and encouraging for all of us. She dealt with the Acts of GC XXIII and helped us to have a systematic and deep study of the document. Sr. Rose touched the lives of everyone in the community by her simple and sisterly presence all throughout.
On the morning of 20th November,2015 almost 40 students of 10th standard began their journey from H.C.A Vasant Vihar to the Shanti Niketan Ashram, a home to 28 differently abled people picked up from various trauma centres and from the roadside, in Ashola village near Chattarpur Temple. This is a non-profiteering organization set up in the year 2007 by Mrs. Ancy Johnson and the patron of this organization is Bishop Jacob Barnabas. It is neither supported by the government of India nor by any other organization. It is totally dependent on the good Samaritans of the society.
