A dance drama on the life of the ‘Salesian Sisters’ was put up by the students of Class V. It showcased the apostolate of the Salesian Sisters and the selfless service rendered by the Sisters in all spheres of life not only in India but the world over.

Much to everyone’s surprise, the Sisters sang a sweet song showing their gratefulness to the teachers and children for their love and generosity.

Joy of Giving

VisitOn the morning of 20th November,2015 almost 40 students of 10th standard began their journey from H.C.A Vasant Vihar to the Shanti Niketan Ashram, a home to 28 differently abled people picked up from various trauma centres and from the roadside, in Ashola village near Chattarpur Temple.  This is a non-profiteering organization set up in the year 2007 by Mrs. Ancy Johnson and the patron of this organization is Bishop Jacob Barnabas. It is neither supported by the government of India nor by any other organization. It is totally dependent on the good Samaritans of the society.

When the students entered the house they were delighted to see almost 15 brightly lit faces waiting  for the visitors. There were bed-ridden patients also who were taken care of. They spent a quality time with, sang carols and hymns for them, enjoyed their company and in return learnt how unfair life can be with some but together with how to face this unfairness without complaining and above all to share what they have and care and concern for others. As is rightly said by Charles Dickens,

No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.

There are so many things we can all offer to those around us and believe it or not many of these things are free. If you have material things you would like to give away to those who have less than you do, give it and if you feel like you don’t have any material possession to offer, give them your time, your knowledge, your love and support and many of the things you have that cost you nothing but they value a lot.

Mrs Ancy Johnson, is a source of inspiration to all of us. Her patience and perseverance is laudable. A woman, alone  shouldering the responsibility of 28 differently abled people. This  was an educational trip as it educated about the way a life should be lived. The children contributed and shared by giving wheat flour, sugar, pulses and edible oil for these lovely people, the children of God.

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle. ~Plato

Thomas Peechat , the parish priest set out to Krishnagar for a visit to the tomb of the great missionary Rev. Fr. Francis Convertini.( Born 29th Aug. 1898) We were warmly welcomed by the Sodality Mothers of Krishnagar parish. This was followed by Adoration at the Shrine Chapel to the Lord of wonder and animated by the mothers. By 11.30 we were led to the cemetery of Fr. Francis Convertini to pay our respects, gratitude and homage to this great and ardent missionary. There Mr. Samir Lahiri bore witness to a miraculous cure of himself as a babe of 3, through the intervention and prayer of Fr. Francis Convertini. And now this same Samir stood before all to proclaim God’s wonder and care and love over him through this great Fr. Francis. Before the Eucharistic celebratino once again Mr. Samir in his introduction exhorted the people of the 3 essentials in life, viz; Faith, Hope and Love. He bore witness to a strong RSS man  who was dying of cancer and was cured miraculously touching the blood of Christ with an apparition of Jesus speaking to him. This brought him to a life of conversion and right now he’s a great proclaimer of God’s Word for God’s people.  During Holy Mass Fr. Thomas too stressed on the need of faith, hope and love, the basis of our Christian life, bringing about the fresh and sad news of the Paris attack and to pray through the intercession of Fr. Francis Convertini for this gift. Thereafter a good meal prepared and served by the Sodality Mothers enabled us to go through this day. We then proceeded to Don Bosco Technical Youth Centre for a film show of the edifying life of Rev. Fr. Francis Convertini, where we drew much inspiration from his life of charity, simplicity, faith, hope and love. Back to Christo Mandir for darshan we made the Stations of the Cross there. It was a wonderful day spent with our dear and great missionary Fr. Francis Convertini.
