On 15th May 2015, an orientation programme was organised for the teachers of St. Anthony’s Convent School, Jaigaon  and Auxilium Convent School, New Chumta. Sr. Elizabeth Makil and Sr. Stella P., the Education coordinators of the Province were the resource persons of the day.

Both the sisters with their years of rich experience and the knowledge of the educational system of Don Bosco enriched the teachers on how to be an educator in Don Bosco’s way. During their session they dwelt three main themes such as extra ordinary educator, pedagogy of joy and peace, pedagogy of presence through input sessions, group work, singing etc.

The orientation programs were indeed an eye opener and motivating experience for the teachers. They were grateful to the management for arranging such an inspiring and stimulating orientation programme.

Feast of St. Mary Mazzarello and the ‘Year of Consecrated life’

On 13th May 2015, the culmination of the celebration of the feast of St. Mary Mazzarello started at 11.30 am with the solemn Holy Eucharist. It was a combined celebration, the feast of St. Mary Mazzarello and the get together with the religious of the Barasat area on the occasion of the ‘Year of Consecrated life’. Before the Mass, the boarders expressed their joy through a prayer dance thanking God for the wonderful gift of God in the person of St. Mary Mazzarello.

The celebrant Rev. Fr. TC Jose SDB, the Rector of Don Bosco Nitika Kolkata in his homily emphasised five main points on religious life: Religious are to show to the people that it is possible to come close to God, they should be joyful, and live a happy and satisfied life which should inspire others to live joyfully. They are to wake up the world through joy, happiness and love. The Church must become a home of communion, of friendship and love. It should be a school where one can learn and a home to experience love.  It was followed by a short power point presentation, entertainment and fellowship meal.

Feast of St. Mary Mazzarello and St. Dominic Savio

Feast of Dominic Savio

Auxilium Convent School Barasat celebrated the feast of St. Mary Mazzarello the patron of blue house and St. Dominic Savio the patron saint of Green house. Both primary and high school organised the celebration gorgeously. They had enthralling power point presentation on St. Mary Mazzarello and Dominic Savio. Singing, dances, prayers were usual ways but to make the day more amusing music club had unconventional orchestra. All the houses competed with each other with African aborigines band Safari and local bands were spellbinding. The green house bagged the first place followed by Yellow and Red. At the end of the programme Sr. Stella, the Superior invited the school to imitate Dominic Savio in having trust and devotion to Guardian Angels and learn from Mary Mazzarello to be humble.  She congratulated organisers and the music club who conducted the unconventional orchestra in a very innovative way. The students were extremely happy to celebrate the feast of their patron saints and have the healthy competitions to develop their talents.

The Birthday celebration of  St. Mary Mazzarello

On 9th May 2015, the community of “Nirmala Niketan” Jaigaon celebrated the birthday of St. Mary Mazzarello with the boarders, neighbourhood priests Fr. Rajesh, Fr. Kuriakose, Fr. Philip and religious.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rt. Rev. Clement Tirkey, the bishop of Jalpaiguri diocese. In his homily he spoke about the importance of perfection and separation.  It was followed by a short cultural programme during which the life of St. Mary Mazzarello was presented and a fellowship meal.

Multi Task Force honoured

Workers Day

The feast of St. Joseph, the worker, was celebrated to honour our multi task staff members of H.C. Auxilium Vasant Vihar. The day commenced with Holy Mass animated by the Teachers. During Mass the staff offered various tools used by them in their line of profession. After Mass, the school captain Diksha Katoch of the school addressed the gathering and expressed gratitude and thanks for all the help they render.

On behalf of the members of the supporting staff Mr. Ramesh gave a moving speech, telling the students how much the students mean to them and how proud they are to be part of the Auxilian family. The workers were felicitated with bouquets and gifts as a token of our appreciation and gratitude.

The H.C Auxilium School Vasant Vihar has organized and conducted the “Annual Spiritual Renewal shepherded by Reverend Fr. Joseph Eluvathingal V.C and his dedicated team from the Divine Retreat Ashram, Faridabad.

The retreat was held from 8 am to 4 pm, for the spiritual renewal of the Christian Parents and Staff of both junior and senior schools. The gathering comprised of about 500 parents, ardent listeners to the Word of God. The main themes discussed were ” Importance of seeking God’s Kingdom”, “Giving God the first place in our life” , “Family prayers” and above all “Love”.

During the Holy Mass, Father accentuated on the obligation and need of “Mercy, Forgiveness and Reconciliation”. Ebullient participation was witnessed as all experienced mighty anointing of the Holy Spirit, which was externally marked by healings and miracles, fully refreshed during the praise and worship the crowd was refilled with the grace and love of the Lord.

The day of prayer was concluded with the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament through powerful prayers and songs. It was a spectacular and enlightening experience for each and every person present, being surrounded by God’s Presence, taking home God’s word, which would strengthen them and give them hope, to live a life of goodness and also guide and mentor the upcoming youth to take up the path of righteousness, to live a life with the grace of the glorious divine Love.

VIVA  DON  BOSCO CULTURAL WEEK

Don Bosco

H.C Auxilium school, Vasant Vihar provides an intellectual environment to the young girls to nurture their dreams, develop their talents and to realize their ambitions and goals.

Three days, four Houses, 32 events – this was “Viva Don Bosco cultural week” 2015 – 16, a golden opportunity for the students to showcase their talents.  Some of the favourite items of the students were – mime, international folk dance, western & Indian music, instrumentals dance drama, film making, fruit – vegetable carving, bridal gown designing with waste materials etc.

The first day commenced with off stage events. The students participated enthusiastically in earthen pots decoration, canvas shoe painting, card making file designing board decoration, portrait of Don Bosco and film making. Equally interesting events were painting, 3-D sculpture and power point presentations on the theme “I Love Don Bosco”.

The second day, Fr. Cyprian Creado op, the Parish Priest St. Dominic’s Church graced the occasion as chief guest and unveiled the image of Don Bosco together with Sr. Lucy John, the principal of the school. The programme commenced with a prayer song by the school choir followed by the inaugural folk dance. The events of the day left the judges mesmerized and the audience awestruck.

The Chief Guest of the concluding day was Rev. Fr. Babu Varghese sdb, principal of DonBosco – Alaknanda. The action – packed three days’ fest had some of the best performances and programmes. English drama based on the Forty dreams of Don Bosco, Contemporary dance drama on contemporary social issues and off stage events like vegetable and fruit carving, sandwich and mock – tail preparation, card making and much acclaimed bridal gown designing from waste material brought out innumerable talents that our children are blessed with. It was an occasion for the children to know more about Don Bosco and love him as their father and friend.Don Bosco.

The Principal Sr. Lucy announced the much awaited results of the riveting performances, with Bosco House and Mazzarello House as winners of the On – stage events and off – stage events respectively. The overall trophy was bagged by the proud Mazzarello House.

The social service club of Auxilium Convent School Barasat celebrated Workers’ Day amidst much fun and frolic on 2nd May 2015. They were given a traditional welcome in the school auditorium by the members of Social Service Club. The celebration began with the lighting of the lamp followed by a short prayer service praying for the wellbeing and prosperity of the workers. During the power point presentation students depicted the contribution of the workers towards the school. They performed a song, play and dance to honour them. The workers were provided with some refreshing savouries. The programme came to an end with the inspiring words of Sr. Stella the superior. The members of social service club were happy to get a chance to bring smile on the faces of our dear workers on the occasion of workers’ day.

Parents' orientation

The Auxilium Convent School Barasat organized an orientation day for the parents of nursery and new students parents on 1st May 2015. The programme started with a welcome speech given by Ms. Pushpa addressing the parents and Rev. Fr. Soroj Mallick SDB, the resource person of the day. Sr. Rosy the Principal had an audio visual presentation depicting the whole year’s activities through a prayer song. She also briefly presented about the life and history of Salesian sisters, their system of education, the lives and methods of education of St. John Bosco and St. Mary Mazzarello. In order to make the parents aware that in the school the students are not only imparted knowledge but they are shaped and groomed into a good and disciplined individuals, they are taught to respect and show love and solidarity towards the needy. The parents were much impressed by the ways of education imparted in Auxilium.

Rev. Fr. Soroj Mallick SDB the Rector of Don Bosco Youth Centre Kalyani invited the parents to reflect on the currently important requirements of life. He mostly stressed on the topics; family, society and the Don Bosco system of education which enables the students for all round development. The parents – teachers’ behaviour, thoughts, opinions and expectation affects a lot the lives of the children.In order to bring about changes around, the changes has to be brought about in the family by showing a lot of love and understanding.

The programme was concluded by vote of thanks by Sr. Rosy the principal and one of the parents too expressed gratitude on behalf of parents for a wonderful session. All the parents were contented and spoke well about school and the system of education.
