A vision seen by our beloved Bapu to make India ‘clean’ of not only corruption but also of the unhygienic surroundings is being implemented now, by our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. In accordance a campaign – “SWACHH BHARAT” OR ‘CLEAN INDIA’ – had begun to clean India by the year 2019. As a contribution to this very thought, Auxilium Convent School, Dum Dum had decided to take an active part in this campaign.
From the morning of 12th and 13th November 2014 – the day we were to clean the vicinity of our School. The Students of classes VIII, IX, X, XI, & XII were very excited equipped with brooms, dust pans, garbage bags, gloves and masks; we were ready to begin the work. All of us were very enthusiastic and we had no hesitation when we began. We picked up pieces of paper, polythene bags, wrappers, and other garbage, swept and applied bleaching powder. We put them into garbage bags and carried them to the local VAT, to dump them. We distributed pamphlets with message to keep our surroundings clean and hygienic. We were assisted by our Sisters, and Teachers. Dum Dum Police personnel also kept traffic at bay. When we returned, we were happy and satisfied with our endeavour. All of us had a very enriching experience and we all learned the importance of cleanliness. We will all try and do our bit to keep our country clean.
