On 22 April 2025, the Earth Day celebration was observed with great enthusiasm and a sense of responsibility towards our planet at Auxilium Convent School, Bandel. The programme was held during the morning assembly in the school portico and was attended by the entire school community, including students and staff from the primary, middle, and high school sections. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Superior, Sr. Rose Ezarath, and Principal, Sr. Clara Saminathan.
The celebration began with a thoughtful introductory speech that set the tone for the day, highlighting the importance of protecting our planet and uniting for a sustainable future. The theme for this year was “Our Power, Our Planet”, emphasising the collective responsibility of humankind towards Mother Earth. A graceful dance performance portrayed the deep connection between humanity and nature, symbolising harmony and coexistence. This was followed by a unique trilingual lyrical poem recitation in English, Hindi, and Bengali, showcasing the beauty and diversity of our environment and the urgent need to preserve it. Students then presented a soulful group song that conveyed a powerful message about nurturing the earth and making it a healthier place for generations to come. The assembly concluded with a heartfelt pledge taken by all present, affirming their commitment to environmental conservation and mindful living. Sr. Superior and Sr. Principal addressed the gathering, appreciating the efforts of the students and teachers and encouraging everyone to be active stewards of the earth. The celebration ended with a symbolic photo session where the Sisters, teachers, and students stood in concentric circles around a central display of potted plants, symbolising unity and hope. The Earth Day celebration served as a meaningful reminder of our duty towards the environment and inspired all present to act with care, compassion, and responsibility towards our shared home.
Auxilium, Barasat
On April 22, 2025, the Science and Eco Club of Auxilium Convent School, Barasat, organised a vibrant and meaningful celebration of Earth Day 2025. The event, themed “Our Power, Our Earth,” aimed to raise students’ awareness about the urgent necessity of environmental conservation and the crucial role each individual plays in protecting our planet. The assembly began with an impactful introduction that underscored the growing concerns surrounding pollution. Students from the Science and Eco Club then presented a series of thought-provoking skits, vividly depicting the alarming issues of air, land, and water pollution in urban areas, specifically highlighting the situation in Delhi. This engaging performance fostered a deeper understanding of the environmental challenges we face. Following the skit, the audience was treated to an expressive dance performance that personified Mother Earth, reminding everyone of the essential connection between humans and the environment. To further enrich the event, Krishanu Roy and Olivia Rahaman recited self-composed poems that eloquently conveyed their views on nature and sustainability. These poetic pieces not only moved the audience but also reinforced the message of collective responsibility toward the planet. Adding an element of fun and competition, a quiz was conducted, encouraging students to showcase their knowledge of environmental issues. The enthusiastic participation demonstrated a strong commitment among the students to learn about and engage with ecological topics.
The highlight of the day was a Drawing Competition centred on the theme “Our Power, Our Planet.” Students from grades I to XII participated with great zeal, creatively expressing their love for the Earth through their artwork. The Boarders too had it in the boarding. It was a great joy for all to see them expressing their creativity in the paper on the same theme. The event concluded with a powerful pledge in which both students and staff committed to adopting greener habits and working collectively toward a sustainable future. It reiterated the belief that with collective effort and awareness, we can harness “Our Power” to safeguard “Our Earth” for generations to come.

On April 22, 2025, the community of Auxilium-Aspirantate celebrated World Earth Day, reflecting on our sacred duty to care for the Earth as stewards of creation. The theme of the day was “Our Power, Our Planet,” and the event focused on the spiritual and practical responsibilities we share to protect the environment. The day’s celebration featured a heartfelt prayer service and a vibrant drawing competition, encouraging the participants to connect with and care for the natural world. The day began with a prayer service conducted in the open ambience surrounded by lush green, majestic trees and melodious chirping of the birds, reflecting on the beauty and grandeur of the creator in His creatures. The members of the community offered prayers of gratitude for the Earth and supplications for its healing and protection. The service created a peaceful atmosphere, reminding everyone that caring for the environment is a divine responsibility. In the afternoon, a drawing competition was organised for the formees students who actively participated in it. The most creative entries were displayed in the community, and the best entries were declared winners. The World Earth Day celebration was a meaningful blend of faith, art, and action. Through prayer, we connected spiritually with our planet, and through creative expression, we inspired one another to act. As a faith-based community, we are reminded that “Our Power” lies not only in our actions but in our unity and purpose – to protect “Our Planet” for generations to come.
Senhadan, Bareilly
On 22 April 2025, the boarders of Snehadhan, Bareilly celebrated Earth Day. The morning began with an animated Morning Prayer service. The animator of the community carried a globe, while others carried water, soil, flowers, fruits, and plants and proceeded to the hall in a procession. The pleasant and joyful atmosphere filled everyone with happiness. After the Morning Prayer, each one meditated on the planet and earth, expressing gratitude to God for the beautiful evergreen common home. At 3:00 p.m., the boarders participated in a drawing competition on the theme “Our power, our Planet”. All of them took an interest and learned the environmental conservation and protection, our planet, our responsibility and our future.

Auxilium, Dum Dum
On 22 April 2025, ACS Dum Dum joined the global community in celebrating World Earth Day with great enthusiasm and reverence. The day began with a prayer service thoughtfully animated by the Middle School students. The service set a reflective tone, encouraging everyone to value and respect our common home, Mother Earth.
The introduction to the day emphasised the significance of Earth Day, an annual event observed around the world on 22 April since 1970. The purpose of this day is to promote awareness about environmental protection and to inspire action towards a more sustainable and harmonious way of life. The message shared reminded everyone of our responsibility as stewards of the Earth, entrusted by God to care for all His creation and use its resources wisely. Students carried various symbols representing elements of nature, such as the Earth, globe, mud, water, a plant, a flower, soil, fruits, and more. Each symbol served as a reminder of the beauty and richness of the natural world and the urgent need to preserve it. The students then took a pledge to care for and protect Mother Earth, reaffirming their commitment to being responsible citizens and protectors of the environment. As part of the celebration, a drawing competition was held, divided into two categories: Category 1: Classes I to VI and Category 2: Classes VII to XII. Students enthusiastically participated, expressing their creativity and concern for the environment through art. The drawings were evaluated by a panel of judges assigned to each category, and the best works were appreciated for their thoughtfulness and originality.
The entire day was a beautiful blend of reflection, creativity, and action, spent in deep connection with Mother Earth. It served as a meaningful reminder of the role each of us plays in preserving our planet for future generations.
Auxilium, Gobra
Today, Auxilium Convent Gobra, Community celebrated Earth Day 2025 in the open garden, as an annual event to demonstrate our love and appreciation for Mother Earth, with a firm desire to protect it always. The theme was “Our Power, Our Planet”. Sr. Pranati Subasunder, Sr. Manjula Lakra and Sr. Anima Kujur, through a beautiful prayer service, helped the community to reflect upon the value of stewardship with responsibility and avail of it as a God given gift to mankind to till it, produce it and protect it. The silent flute music raised our hearts and minds to God in thanksgiving together with the chirping of birds and fresh blowing breeze as we carried our gifts of fruits, flowers, water, vegetables, mud and plants and placed them on the decorated table in the garden. We began our prayer service thanking God for the gift of Mother Earth, our common home, and to live our commitment to care for the earth each day by carrying out our responsibilities. Through the canticle of the Sun, which tells of the glory of God and in the words of Saint Pope John Paul II, we thank God for the Earth, which never fails us in giving us His faithful stewardship, its rich harvest. We pray to God that people join hands in working towards a cleaner and healthier planet. We pledged to harness our energy to build a healthy, sustainable and prosperous future for us all by taking care of our common home.
Auxilium, Park Circus
On 22 April 2025, the Community of Auxilium Park Circus joyfully joined the global celebration of Earth Day under the theme, “Our Power, Our Planet.” A beautifully prepared morning prayer, shared by the Green Audit Coordinator (INC), was circulated to all the communities, setting a reflective and unifying tone for the day. With great enthusiasm and a spirit of togetherness, the community gathered to honour our common home, “Mother Earth”. As a symbolic gesture of love, care, and respect for the environment, a sapling was reverently placed on the altar during the prayer service. This simple yet meaningful act served as a reminder of our shared responsibility to nurture and protect the planet for future generations.
At 8:30 a.m., during the school assembly, a special prayer was also conducted to mark the occasion. This was aimed at instilling a deep sense of love and respect for the Earth in the hearts of the Pre-Primary students. Sr. Elizabeth Tigga, the headmistress, addressed the assembly and exhorted everyone to care for our common home through simple yet impactful actions. She encouraged the students to plant saplings at home, avoid wasting food and water, and adopt eco-friendly habits in their daily lives. It was indeed a meaningful day for the community sisters and for the Pre-Primary students and teachers as they spent time thanking God for making them caretakers of the Earth.
St. Mary’s Geyzing
On 22nd April 2025, St. Mary’s Convent School, Geyzing, observed Earth Day with great enthusiasm and purpose with the theme “Our Power, Our Planet”. The event aimed to inspire awareness and action towards environmental protection and sustainability among students. The day began with a special Prayer Service during the morning assembly guided by Principal Sr. Archana Kujur, Vice Principal Sr. Medlin Lakra, and Coordinators Miss Evana Khawas and Mr. Nikesh Chettri. The service focused on reflection, responsibility, and reverence for the Earth. As a symbolic gesture, a procession was held in which students carried items representing nature – a globe, flowers, soil, and water to the podium, emphasising the sacredness of our planet. Miss Evana Khawas delivered a thoughtful address highlighting the importance of Earth Day and the urgent need to embrace renewable energy and sustainable living practices. This was followed by a heartfelt prayer led by Miss Anjana Tamang, seeking God’s guidance in preserving the Earth for current and future generations. The service concluded with an inspiring message from Miss Evana Khawas, calling everyone to become responsible caretakers of the Earth. The final takeaway message echoed deeply: “Go Forth and Be Good Stewards of Our Common Home.
“To further engage students, a Drawing Competition was held across all classes, based on the theme “Our Power, Our Planet.” Students expressed their thoughts through vibrant, creative, and thoughtful artworks, showcasing their awareness and concern for the environment. The creativity on display reflected a strong understanding of sustainability and a genuine passion for the planet. The celebration of Earth Day 2025 was both meaningful and memorable. It encouraged students to think critically about their environmental impact and inspired them to act as mindful citizens of the Earth.
St. Antony’s Jaigaon
St. Anthony’s School, Jaigaon, proudly celebrated Earth Day on April 22, 2025, with great enthusiasm and participation from students across all grades. The event aimed to raise awareness about environmental protection and to encourage students to express their creativity and concern for the planet through art. As part of the celebration, a drawing competition was organised in the afternoon session, open to students from classes II – XII. The theme of the competition was “Our Power, Our Planet”, encouraging young minds to reflect on the importance of preserving nature and combating climate change. Students participated with great interest and showcased their artistic talents by creating vibrant and meaningful artworks. In the evening, the Boarders of St. Anthony’s convent continued to celebrate this day with the drawing and painting competition. Vicuna Niwas, Jumaikela
The Vicuna Niwas Jumaikela community celebrated World Environment Day on 22 April 2025 with the theme “our power, our planet”. The community began the day with a very well-prepared morning prayer, where they offered plants, water, mud and fruits. The symbolic gesture highlighted the importance of nurturing and caring for the environment.
The Earth Day celebration at Janta Higher Secondary School, Jumaikela, brought together students, teachers and community members to raise awareness about environmental conservation. The principal, Sr. Kanti Tirkey, during assembly delivered a meaningful and inspirational talk with the symbol of the globe and plants, on environmental issues, such as pollution, conservation and sustainability. The students raised their voices together and sang a beautiful song thanking God for creating the beautiful creation, and pledged to take care of the Mother Earth. The event featured a drawing competition for classes I to VI and classes VII to XII. Both groups expressed their thoughts and ideas about environmental conservation very beautifully. The winners of the drawing competition were awarded with thunders applause and words of appreciation. In the evening, the boarders and the Sisters of the community enjoyed the nature walk. They concluded the day by praying and thanking God for creating such a wonderful world and all the creatures of the world. The celebration of World Environment Day fostered a sense of responsibility towards the environment.
Auxilium, Kurseong: A day with nature, a day of prayer for Creation
The Earth Day celebration on 22nd April 2025 began with a serene and heartfelt morning prayer amidst the beauty of nature. Surrounded by trees, birdsong, and fresh air, the community gathered to connect with the Creator and His creation in a deep and meaningful way.
The objective of the celebration was to foster love, care, and responsibility for the environment by recognising nature as a sacred gift from God. This day aims to deepen our awareness of the urgent need to protect and nurture our common home. The sisters had a peaceful nature meditation; they reflected in silence and allowed themselves to feel the presence of the Divine in the natural world. This was followed by a sharing of reflection where they expressed their thoughts, feelings, and gratitude for nature. Hymns dedicated to God and the beauty of His creation added a spiritual and joyful rhythm to the morning. The celebration culminated in a colourful and touching art activity where children created beautiful drawings. Their artworks were filled with emotional messages of hope, love, and care for the Earth and all humanity. The drawings portrayed the harmony between humans and nature. The celebration left a deep impact on the community, especially the young minds. It inspired a renewed sense of respect and responsibility towards the environment. On 22 April 2025, Auxilium Convent, Mirik, joyfully celebrated Earth Day with the theme “our power our planet”. The day began with a special morning prayer, during which the sisters offered a plant as a symbol of gratitude and thanked God for the gift of this beautiful creation. To mark the occasion, a drawing competition was organised for the boarders, allowing them to express their creativity and commitment to environmental care.
Auxilium, New Chumta
Earth Day was celebrated on 23 April at 10:30 a.m. with a short yet interesting program. It consisted of a speech, which reminded us about the harmful effects of our everyday lifestyle on Mother Earth and how we should make amends to our planet for all the existential threats we have brought upon it. To further explain and illustrate the reason for celebrating Earth Day, an eye-catching tableau was presented by the students of Green House. Additionally, students held well-made posters, each created by themselves, to show their genuine support for saving the Earth. The speech and tableau were followed by a song, sung with a melodious voice by a student of Class X. The song conveyed the concern for the well-being of our Earth and touched the hearts of everyone present. Finally, Sr. Principal shared her words of wisdom, motivating the students to act upon the issues the Earth is currently facing. She stated that everyone is responsible for whatever happens to the Earth today and challenged us to be better stewards of the Earth and future generations. After the program, to showcase their talent and creativity in support of Earth Day, the primary section of the school continued the celebration by competing not only amongst themselves but also with students from different states in a drawing competition. The school celebrated Earth Day with enthusiasm, aiming to make the spirit of Earth Day not just a one-day observance but a practice to cherish and celebrate every day.
Senhalaya, Palam Gaon
Auxilium Snehalaya marked Earth Day 2025 with a vibrant and heartfelt celebration centred on the empowering theme, “Our Power, Our Planet.” The event served as a call to action, emphasising the essential role each individual plays in protecting and preserving the environment. The day began with a compelling keynote address that highlighted the urgent need for renewable energy, environmental conservation, and grassroots initiatives. The address inspired all to reflect on the impact of their daily choices. A highlight of the celebration was the eco-friendly drawing competition, where children expressed their creativity and concern for the planet through art. Their colourful and thoughtful illustrations brought the theme to life and showcased the younger generation’s commitment to sustainability. The event concluded with a serene evening prayer service, where songs centred on ecological awareness were introduced and sung with devotion. The service served as a spiritual reminder of our responsibility to care for creation. Sr. Asha Kerketta, the Animator, in her goodnight message, encouraged everyone to take small, meaningful steps toward sustainability, saying, “Small steps taken today can lead to a more sustainable tomorrow.” As the celebration came to a close, the message was clear: the power to protect our planet truly lies in our hands. The spirit of Earth Day continues to inspire and ignite action, one mindful choice at a time.

Visit to National Zoological Park, New Delhi: On 21 April, the communities of HCA R.K. Puram and Vasanth Vihar went for an outing to the National Zoological Park to mark Earth Day. The visit was a refreshing experience for the sisters, a close encounter with the marvels of wildlife. The park was home to a wide variety of animals. Sisters gazed on the magnificent creatures such as the Bengal tiger, lion, and Indian Elephant, which stood as proud symbols of India’s rich biodiversity. Animals such as the Cheetah, Wild Cat, Fox, Nilgai, Spotted Deer, and the rare Lion-Tailed Monkey added to the sense of wonder and discovery. The sisters were equally fascinated by the sight of Black Swans gliding gracefully on the water and the vibrant display of colourful Parrots and Golden Pheasants. They delighted in seeing unique birds like the Zebra finch and large flightless birds, the Ostrich. Each creature sparked curiosity and reverence for the beauty and complexity of nature. The outing was not only a recreational trip but also a moment to reflect on the importance of conservation and our shared responsibility to care for Mother Earth. It strengthened the sisters’ bond with nature and with each other as they marvelled at the diversity of life.
H.C. Auxilium Junior School, R.K. Puram, celebrated Earth Day 2025 with a series of meaningful and inspiring events held on 22nd and 23rd April. The two-day celebration seamlessly wove together elements of spirituality, creativity, and environmental consciousness, reflecting the school’s commitment to nurturing responsible stewards of the Earth. The day began on 22 April with a serene Morning Prayer service held in the community chapel. The service featured a symbolic globe placed reverently during the prayer by Sr. Annie Kannampuzha, the animator. The sisters offered flowers, expressed gratitude and reverence for the shared common home.
A Poster Making Competition was organised for students of Classes I to V under the theme “Our Power, Our Planet.” The competition aimed to ignite environmental awareness and empower young minds to visualise solutions for a sustainable future. Students showcased their creativity through compelling artwork highlighting themes such as climate change, renewable energy, conservation, and sustainable living. Winners were selected based on their creativity, clarity of message, and presentation.
The celebrations continued on 23 April with a vibrant performance held in the auditorium. The program began with a prayer service led by Class V, symbolising collective care for the Earth. A globe was presented and placed before the assembly, signifying unity and commitment to environmental preservation. The day featured a series of engaging performances, where Class II recited a touching poem on Mother Earth’s nurturing nature, Class III presented a heartfelt poem about love for the planet, and Class IV captivated the audience with a graceful dance themed “Nature, Our Good Friend.” Class V offered a powerful portrayal titled “Life of Nature to Humanity,” reflecting the interdependence between people and the environment. The celebration concluded with a concluding speech by Sr. Minimol Thomas, who encouraged students to care for a single plant, reinforcing the message of individual responsibility towards the Earth. The event came to a close with the uplifting theme song on nature, leaving students inspired and energised. These events successfully instilled a sense of environmental responsibility while fostering a deep love and respect for nature.
Mazzarello, Ranchi
On 22nd April 2025, Mazzarello School, Ranchi, observed World Earth Day with a special morning assembly that began with heartfelt prayers for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis, who was called to his heavenly reward. As the Catholic Church mourns this great leader, the school community joined in prayer led by Sr. Sosan Minj, along with a few students. It was a fitting tribute on this day, as Pope Francis was known for his compassion and being a true champion of peace.
The Earth Day celebration continued with a meaningful prayer service conducted by the students of Class VIII, thanking and praising God for the gift of creation. This was followed by a lively presentation by the students of Class V, who highlighted the vital role of human beings in protecting Mother Earth. The UKG students also shared a touching presentation showing how God’s love is revealed through His generous gifts to humanity and the richness of the earth. In the afternoon, selected students from Classes I to X enthusiastically took part in a drawing competition on the theme “Our Power, Our Planet”. The students creatively expressed their thoughts and concern for the environment through colours and imagination. The program concluded with a thought-provoking message by Sr. Elizabeth Valliyil, encouraging everyone to become champions of peace in small yet significant ways by taking care of our common home, Mother Earth.
On the evening, the Mazzarello Community, Ranchi, continued the Earth Day celebration with a drawing competition for the boarders on the theme “Our Power, Our Planet.” Seated in the open playground, the boarders enjoyed the fresh air and participated with great enthusiasm. Later, the Sisters of the community gathered around the altar of the Lord for a special thanksgiving prayer service. At the beginning of the prayer, each Sister offered a symbolic item-such as a globe, soil, water, fruits, and green saplings-expressing gratitude to God for the precious gifts of creation. The prayer moments beautifully reflected a spirit of thanksgiving and a renewed commitment to care for our common home.
Sacred Heart – Novitiate
On 22 April 2025, the Sacred Heart Novitiate community, Ranchi, celebrated the 55th anniversary of World Earth Day with great reverence and simplicity. The day began with a solemn Morning Prayer, during which the community paid tribute to our late beloved Holy Father, Pope Francis. He was remembered as a true lover of Mother Earth, whose message in ‘Laudato Si’ continues to inspire us to care for creation. The prayer included scripture readings, hymns of praise, and silent reflection on the beauty and vulnerability of our planet. It reminded everyone of the need to respect and protect the environment as a precious gift from God. To continue the celebration, in the afternoon of the following day, the sisters and novices took part in a cleanliness drive outside the campus. With joy and enthusiasm, they worked together to clean the surroundings and promote a plastic-free environment, expressing their love and care for Mother Earth practically.
Jhorahat, Nepal
Earth Day was celebrated around the FMA world with a beautiful theme, “Our Power, Our Planet”. Earth Day is proof that even one person can positively make a global impact. Echoing the same theme, Auxilium School, Jhorahat celebrated Earth Day through a series of activities on 22nd April. The day began with the well-animated morning prayers, and the students of Auxilium Jhorahat enthusiastically participated in a myriad of activities conducted in the school to commemorate our benevolent Mother Earth. First, the students learnt the importance of Earth Day and the need to preserve and conserve their self-sustaining planet, which was explained during the morning Assembly regarding Earth Day. In the afternoon, the students of classes two and three participated in a drawing competition, with great zeal and enthusiasm, showcasing their artistic and creative skills. The day ended with the Eucharistic Adoration during which the community thanked God for the gift of Mother Earth.
Salesian Sisters – Thecho, Nepal
Earth Day was celebrated with the theme, “Our Power, Our Planet”, on 23 April 2025 by the community of Thecho, Nepal, with simple, meaningful and symbolic activities to foster environmental awareness and love for our common home. The community brought various earth elements such as fruits, plants, water, soil, and stones into a created sacred space that reflected the beauty and abundance of nature. These elements were presented in prayer and gratitude, recognising them as vital gifts from God entrusted to our care.
A special outreach program was also carried out at St. Xavier’s School, Jawalakhel, where Grade 3 students participated enthusiastically in the Earth Day drawing competition under the guidance of Sr. Dominica Thapa. The children were introduced to the different natural elements and invited to reflect on their importance in our daily lives. Through simple environmental pledges, the young minds were encouraged to become guardians of the Earth in their unique ways. We remain committed to nurturing environmental consciousness among the young and old alike, inspired by our Salesian mission and the urgent call to care for our common home. Keeping up to the spirit of Earth day, on 20 April 2018, the Eco Club of Vasant Vihar organised competitions on ‘Poster Making’ for the students of Class 6; ‘Planter decoration’ for Class 7 and ‘Model Making’ for class 8 to give support for environmental protection for which every student is responsible.
Continuing with the celebrations of Earth Day, on 24 April the Eco club conducted a morning assembly. The assembly comprised of an effectual and energetic Street Play drawing the attention of everyone to make amends towards a better future.
This was followed by speeches and a pledge to protect our Mother Earth.

Educational Biodiversity Walk
On 23 April 2018, the class XII B students of Vasant Vihar made an educational biodiversity walk in Sanjay Van- a sprawling city forest spread over an area of 783 acres.
The students observed the nests of camponotus ants, indigenous to forests and a larg variety of butterflies and caughtsights of migratory birds like Purple sunbird, Indian paradise flycatcher etc. There were lots of other great bird sightings, from peacocks and wood shrikes amongst the trees to spot-bill ducks and cattle egrets on Sanjay Van Lake, a secluded water conservation spot. Peacocks, partridges, squirrels, sparrows and monarch butterflies crossed serenely as they walked past the tiny paths that lead off into the undisturbed forest. The students were amazed at how completely the forest muffles all sounds of traffic.
As a contribution towards conserving biodiversity, the students also planted many saplings. The students were also motivated to conserve the biodiversity and protect the delicate balance that keeps the environment clean.
Adieu to Mrs.Lalitha Ma’am
On 27 April, the staff and students of HCA gathered to bid adieu to Mrs.Lalitha Menon. The programme commenced with a welcome speech by the School Head Girl expressing affection and gratitude towards the teacher for all the hardwork and efforts she had put in over the 30 years of her committed service in HCA. It was followed by the lighting of the lamp and felicitation. Menon Ma’am was moved to see students from classes X, XI and XII performing prayer dance, skits and songs to express their gratitude and love to her. The PowerPoint presentation gave an insight into the life of Lalitha Menon Ma’am. The recitation of a poem by Mrs. Niraj Ma’am highlighted the dedicated life of Lalita Ma’am in the formation of her students during the last 30 long years. Principal Sr.Celine then addressed the gathering and wished her all the happiness and good health in life. The programme culminated with inspiring words by Ma’am. The day came to a conclusion with a party hosted by the Sisters in honour of Lalita Ma’am for the teaching and non-teaching staff.
The Earth Day is all about appreciating the uniqueness of our planet with its incredible biodiversity. On 24th April 2017, the H.C.Auxilium Vasant Vihar celebrated ‘Earth Day’ in the school by the Eco Club. The Earth day programme began with a speech on the importance of Earth day and the appreciation of the Earth’s natural environment which was followed by a beautiful prayer, thanking God for blessing us with such a beautiful nature and environment.
Following this was an enlightening and informative mime act by the class 6-9 students on the importance of conservation and protection of life and our environment; our Mother Nature. To perfectly wrap up this celebration the students sung in unison a mesmerizing self –composed song describing the beauty of Earth and also how the actions of human beings lead to the degradation of the environment.
The program was summed up with an inspiring message by our Superior Sr. Maria P. exhorting everyone to protect the mother earth in our little ways under the theme, ‘Together we can make everyday Earth Day and each one of us in the school can make a difference’.
The Nation celebrates 46th Anniversary of the Earth Day on 22nd April 2016. The members of the Bosco House, the incharge of the Eco Club organised the programme and the entire HCA family assembled in the school Auditorium to commemorate the Earth Day. The honourable Chief Guest was Mr. Ram Pal Singh, Inspector MCD and Mr. Sumit Ranjan, Inspector MCD graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
The programme commenced with a prayer invoking the blessings of the Almighty, followed by the lighting of the lamp. The students further prayed to the God for wisdom and strength to protect His Creation. Thereafter Ishita Bisht, the Bosco House Captain shared her thoughts regarding the true purpose of celebrating the Earth Day not only on this one day but to clebrate it every day.
Class IX students spoke about the ill-effects of life style on the environment and encouraging all to do their bit in saving the Earth- ‘Mother Earth is ailing, our Earth is the only source of life and we must save it at any cost’.
Next students of Standard VIII recited a poem in Hindi, ‘Dharti Ka Dard’ depicting the plight of the ailing planet and urged all present there to take prompt action. This was followed by an entertaining and informative Street Play depicting the causes and effects of various types of pollution.
The Chief Guest addressed the gathering and gave away the prizes for the Drawing Competition held on 21st April 2016. The students of both Middle and Senior School enthusiastically participated and presented their talent on the topics like, ‘Save Earth’, ‘Save the Ozone Layer’.
The programme concluded with the Guests planting the saplings in the School Compound.
