The official opening of the Bicentenary Celebration of the birth of St. John Bosco began at Auxilium Convent School, Bandel  on 16 August 2014.  It was started with half day recollection for 64 Catholic girls from classes VI – XII. The day concluded with a Solemn Eucharistic celebration offered in honour of Don Bosco.  

On 18^th August during the morning assembly the entire school witnessed the opening of the Bicentenary Celebration of the birth of Don Bosco. The beautifully decorated picture of Don Bosco had a very prominent place. It commenced with the hoisting of the Centenary flag by Superior Sr. Elizabeh Valliyil. The yellow house took the responsibility of conducting the inspiring prayer service. Hymns were sung to throw light on the life of Don Bosco during the prayer service. Various items like globe, candle, and books were offered as symbols of our education and co- curricular activities.

The Rector Major, Rev.Fr. Angel Fernandez Artime, Mother General, Mother Yvonne Reungoat, the Salesian Congregation, the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and the entire world of youth was brought to the Almighty during the supplication. We placed ourselves under the guidance of St. John Bosco and took the pledge to be his imitators. The finale was the releasing of a number of coloured balloons representing the life St. John Bosco. Sr. Elizabeth concluded the celebration presenting to all Don Bosco who was profoundly human and daring to respond to the times. At the end of the service the Principal announced the decision to sing a hymn to Don Bosco everyday during assembly to honor him. We pray that his blessings be showered on us.  Eviva Don Bosco !!!
