The first experience is always a memorable one. Fifteen of us NCC cadets of Holy Child Auxilium Vasant Vihar got an opportunity to attend the CATC camp1-10 December 2017at Safdarjung.

At our arrival, at the venue by 4 p.m. on 1^st December, Wing Commander Sameer Mehra briefed us of the rules to be maintained during the Camp. We were excited on hearing him that we were going to handle the Pride of a Soldier – A Rifle.On the following day we were taken to the Range Firing Ground and given the instruction on the functioning of the rifle with a live ammunition and then we were given a rifle each to fire at given targets. It was a learning experience. The next following couple of days were spent (i) taking part in a variety of interesting competitions like Poster Making, Debate on the topic ‘Freedom of Expression’ (ii) attending medical Lecture (iii) learning about Fire Extinguishers and road safety measures (iv) visiting the Air Force Museum and such type of interesting experiences. All of us enjoyed the well-organized Walkathon at Chitranjan Park and felt proud when Mrs. Preet Kaur our NCC representative flagged off the event.

We had to face a few inconveniences but we are happy that we could adjust and come out of our comfort zone. This amazing camp experience will remain imprinted in our hearts for ever. We are grateful to H.C A for having given us this beautiful opportunity.

Five of the NCC cadets of HCA Vasant Vihar- AfifaTabrezi, Mahima Gulati, Taushika  Singhania, Saumya  Kawaliya and Arushi Bisht got an opportunity to attend the ‘All India Girls Trekking Expedition’ in Ajmer, Rajasthan from 18-25 November 2017.

We left Delhi on 17^th November  with packed luggage to leave for this mission. Bubbling with excitement, we took our train to Ajmer from the Sarai Rohilla railway station to reach Ajmer by 4 a.m. and to have a round about the base camp. We were accompanied by 2 ANOs and 55 other cadets. We were later joined by cadets from Rajasthan, UP, MP, and Delhi. These included cadets of the Army, Air Force and Navy.

On 19^th November morning, we were all briefed about the events scheduled for the day and then assembled at the ceremony hall for the opening ceremony in our NCC uniform. On the third day, we had our first trek to Naag Pahadi, where we covered 9 km with full enthusiasm. On 21^st November, we had our trek scheduled at Taragarh, which was 5 km in all. On the following day, we were taken for an educational trip to the shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti and to the temple of Lord Brahma in Pushkar. On 23^rd, we visited a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Mahavira and enjoyed the most adventurous trekking covering about 7 km in Narelli.On returning to the camp, we participated in a number of sport events winning many prizes. On 24^th,we participated in a rally covering 5 km around the streets of Ajmer which was organised by the Naval team. On returning to the camp, we enjoyed a cultural programme performed by cadets from all directorates.It was indeed an unforgettable experience for all of us
