On 16 April, 2018 orientation for the students of classes IX to XII was organized by the school and animated by Mr. Wilson Joseph. In a very short span of time, he had everyone talking, interacting, and put everyone at ease. We were given a short briefing on the various problems that we as teenagers face today and how to overcome them, with the help of a PowerPoint presentation prepared by him. We were next sorted into groups of around ten members each. Captains were chosen in each group by a simple game devised by Mr. Wilson Joseph. We were given simple tasks such as coming up with a group name and enacting it in front of everyone. Further, Mr. Wilson Joseph enlightened us on the disadvantages of our over dependence on technology and how it is often misused.

As we left for the break, we were asked to collect reusable waste items. On our return, we were told to create the ‘the best out of waste’- a model depicting success. One by one all the groups demonstrated their models and showcased their imaginative faculty. At the end of the day, we were very thankful to our Principal Sr. Clara for organizing such a thoughtful event. On a personal note, I was touched and inspired by the words of Mr. Wilson Joseph and the group activities undoubtedly uplifted the spirit of teamwork and unity within us.

staff-orientation

The session started with an activity of origami. All the groups were quite enthusiastic. When the teachers finished their assigned activity, Mr. Anshuman shared his observation with us giving emphasis on Team Work. It is with freedom and responsibility that the children learn in the class room.

The second session was more about child centric education. It is the child who is important in teaching learning process. The classes should be held in a such a way  where the child can think out of the box. The most important learning in this session was emotional balance. How we as  teachers can help the child to motivate through verbal appreciation and small rewards. As the children are going through the new era of technology and working parents, it is important that we teachers  play a vital role in their lives.

We had sufficient time to interact with the resource person. Mr.Anshuman was very helpful and resourceful. The day ended with lot of understanding as to why we are teachers and who we are building.

We thank the school Management for organising such an enriching and inspiring session for us before we commence our new scholastic year.
