The bright and colorful panorama of gay little children in their cute and beautiful attire was in the first place a capturing sight all around. At 3 p.m. we welcomed the chief guest Mr. Richard Green, the vice principal of Julien day School along with Mr. Gerald D’souza the head teacher.  After the welcome address our chief guest released two spotless pigeons as we invoked God’s blessings of peace in the world, country and in our families. With great joy all eyes turned to the great firmament above as the birds took their flight into the air. It was then the Swagatham dance to begin the program with, followed by a brief school report by Sr. Geraldine in which she also made mention of the Strenna for the year 2017.

The creative dances and action songs by the Pre-Nursery to Class IV  left parents gaze glued to their performance…”Aero plane flying so high and the big red bus; Shal-la-la-la, Trading my sorrows, Meri ma, Fule Fule, Rinjim Rinjim, Aajarghe (Spanish dance), Ora Kanchi and not forgetting the breath taking Bhangra by the students of Class IV.

Mr. Richard in his short and sweet golden words had words of admiration, appreciation and gratitude towards the teachers, students and parents. Being a Salesian past pupil of Liluah himself together with his 3 other brothers, he said this celebration was his second home coming into a Salesian family. He assured the parents that being in a Salesian family they were in very safe hands and especially the children who would be ably guided to a bright future. He wished us all the best, that we too would grow in number like the Salesian family is used to and for a good education too.

Sr. Margaret Barla finally offered the vote of thanks to all in English and Bengali. True, all good things come to an end, but we look forward always to strengthen our bonds of love and understanding and as Pope Francis has said to make all families” bits of Heaven on Earth “where love begins, grows and never ends.

Celebrating ……

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

The Year of Family is an opportunity to be grateful to God for His unique blessings He showers upon in each one’s life. God has planned everyone to be born in a family with specific parents, brothers and sisters. The family is the place of love and that was celebrated in Barasat, Laura Vicuna boarding on 27th September 2014 by keeping boarders parents’ day. There was a meaningful Holy Eucharistic celebration and short cultural programme to show gratitude to the parents for their love and sacrifices. During the homily Rev. Fr. Leo Jayaraj invited the boarders to make use of the opportunities and make their future bright. Don Bosco created a family and that gives an opportunity for young boys and girls to learn to live with love.
Through the cultural programme the boarders expressed their love and gratitude to the parents and sisters for their tireless effort to help them in their studies and for their integral growth and development. Sr. Stella P. the animator invited the parents to imitate Mamma Margaret in creating conducive environment for the all-round development of their children. She told them to teach their children spiritual, social and moral values so that they may build a solid foundation in their homes for their bright future. All the parents were contented with the initiative taken by the sisters and they expressed their heartfelt gratitude for giving their daughters an opportunity to study in this institution and taking care of them.

On 6th September 2014 was a great day for the DB Tech students of Auxilium Promotional Centre Barasat, as they were having their Parents’ Day cum counseling. Counseling was held from 1.30 – 2.30 in the afternoon. The staff Sir Neelanjan, the Hospitality domain, Sir Biswajit, Communicative English and Computer, Ms. Debolina, the Retail domain and Sr. Leelamma, the Sister in charge met the parents and the students. It was our immense joy to see all the parents from far and near who had come for the celebration and they were happy to see the improvement of their ward and were grateful to the sisters and teachers for having given this opportunity to their sons and daughters, by training them for career, etiquette, soft skills and personality development. The cultural programme began with welcoming the parents in a typical Bengali culture. Director Sr. Leelamma extended a very warm welcome to all present including all the Sisters.

The students displayed their talents to entertain their parents. Few of them this was the first time that they went up to the stage. As we earnestly prepare for the bicentenary of Don Bosco the students presented a drama on the ‘Family’, the first school of every individual based on the family of Don Bosco and Maria Mazzarello. Superior Sr. Lily too highlighted the drama and she emphasized the values that could lead the child for his/her growth as to lead a well-balanced matured and dignified person in the society. The programme ended with the song to Don Bosco our Father and Friend. All returned home with hearts contended, thanks on the lips and with a packet of Bengal special in the hand.
