Reception of Postulancy Medal

24 July 2022, was an auspicious day at Auxilium Aspirantate, Bamunmura, as the five young women officially began the journey to become Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, when the Institute is celebrating the 150th year of its foundation on 5th August 2022, and the centenary of the FMA presence in India. We thank God for the gift of these young courageous women who hail from the states of Jharkhand, Odisha, Meghalaya, and Rourkela. The simple celebration of the donning of the medal of Mary Help of Christians and Don Bosco is a symbol of belonging to the Institute.

Provincial Sr. Leelamma Palliparambil exhorted them in the following words: “The God who has called you will be with you. Mother Mary who has chosen to be her daughter will lead and guide you. Be happy in your choice to give yourself totally for the Lord.” She offered them a statue of Mother Mary inviting them to resemble Mother Mary at all times. The presence of sisters from the neighboring communities of Kolkata added joy to the celebration. The felicitation by the Aspirants gave them the courage to embark on the journey of formation with the words “I have called you by name you are mine.”

A step closer to Jesus: Postulancy medal

On 20 July 2020, fourteen of us commenced our spiritual retreat at Auxilium Aspirantate Bamunmura. The theme of the retreat was “God’s call and our response”. The Holy Eucharist and the talks were on line, preached by Fr. Augustine VC. It was based on Love for God, purpose in life and the precious call of God. We were indeed enriched by the talks of Fr.Agustine which has helped us to know and understand deeper the call to religious life. The time spent in adoration and personal prayer boosted our spiritual life to be more passionate and enthusiastic in following Jesus.

On 24 July 2020, seven of us received the postulancy medal from the hands of Sr. Rose Ezarath the Provincial. The ceremony was held in the morning integrated with the Morning Prayer which was followed by on line Mass. Sincere thanks to Mother Provincial, Superior Sr. Leelamma P., sisters and all the communities who have supported us with your prayers.

The medal ceremony was preceded by three days of spiritual preparation with the Lord. Rev. Fr. Jijo John SDB, the Director of Don Bosco Technical School Krishnagar facilitated them to have a deep love for Jesus. He animated the three days with three main topics such as, the Call of God in the Old and the New Testaments; the Mercy of God and the need to approach Him with open heart; the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. At the end of these three days of prayer and silence all of them are convinced that to become a bride of Christ, one needs to: have a regular meeting with Christ and spend quality time with Him; love for the Holy Eucharist; run away from sin; seek the will of God; tell the Lord that we love Him above all things and know the saintly family to which they belong.
