Rabindra Jayanti Celebrated

9 May 2018: The 157th Birth Anniversary of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated by the middle and high school students in the premises of Auxilium Convent School, Barasat. The initiative to pay homage to the famous bard of Bengal was taken up by the members of Music Club. The auspicious celebration began with lighting of the lamp by Sr. Principal, Sr. Superior and the School coordinators. The auditorium was beautifully decorated with “Rangolis” and colourful motifs in front of the portrait of Kabiguru. The sweet smelling garlands and floral adornments centering the portrait of Tagore kept the ambience cheerful.

The audience witnessed a mesmerising performance by the group singers who harmonised Tagore numbers with perfect melodious chorus rendition. It was followed by the much awaited Inter-House Monologue Competition. All the participants skilfully showed off their talents of acting based on the theme—“RabindrabhabonayAdhunikata”. The Middle school students mellifluously recited Tagore’s famous poem—“Pujor Saaj”. Finally, students of Class XII filled the ambience with serenity through their dance performance to pay their tribute to Kabiguru.

To add a perfect conclusion, Sr. Superior showed a mesmerising presentation on a beautiful poem by Tagore from his collection of poem—“Gitanjali”. Finally, Sr.Superior and Sr. Principal emphasised on the splendour and brilliance of Tagore through their speeches thereby motivating the students to continue the culture and heritage of Bengal through intense reading and appreciating the ideals of Tagore and his literary contribution.

On 9 May, the primary section students of Auxilium Convent School, Barasat celebrated the 157th birthday of Rabindranath Tagore. The motive of the programme was to enlighten the students about the contribution of Tagore towards Bengal’s Culture, Literature and Art. The programme commenced with the Inter-House group singing competition in which the Red House was acknowledged as the best. It was followed by the Solo Instrumental Competition in which Green House secured the first position. Sr. Juliana then shared a few words motivating the children to inculcate reading of Tagore books and imbibe his ideals and teachings. The programme filled the ambience with good cheer and festivity as they paid their homage to Tagore through his best creation in Art and Literature.
