On 01 November 2014 St. Mary’s Convent School, Geyzing witnessed the Annual Sport’s Day. Our joy was doubled by the presence of our Sisters from New Chumta, Mirik and Kurseong.  The programme started at 10.30 am. The Chief Guest Mrs Aishvarya Singh, the District Collector and Magistrate of West Sikkim, the Guest of Honour, Mr. C.B Sanker, Assistant Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, were accompanied by the School Band, Guides and Scouts from the entrance gate to the dias.

After the solemn march past by the four Houses, Guides and Scouts along with Brass Band the students pledged themselves to be loyal to the rules of the games. The Chief Guest, Mrs Aishvarya Singh declared the ‘Sport Opened’. Students performed coloured Drill display, Karate and Yoga.

The Chief Guest in her concluding speech encouraged the students and appreciated their performance. She said that ‘within the healthy body, lies a healthy mind’. She exhorted the students   to build up the ability that God has given, value time and money as parents are making lot of sacrifices to send them to the good school, to develop the communication ability, to make plans for their studies and to learn to appreciate the contribution of their parents and to get up when they fall and go ahead. She also gave away the various prizes and trophies for the winners, congratulating them for their effort, enthusiasm and victory.

The programme came to a conclusion by singing the Salesian Youth Anthem ‘We are here for God, we are here for nation’ in action with flags of Don Bosco and Mary Mazzarello in their hands.  It was an occasion to rejoice with our founder Don Bosco, as we celebrate the bi-centenary of his birth.
