Christmas Celebration at Auxilium Convent School – Dum Dum
On 19th December 2014, the students of Auxilium Dum made this festive season wonderful and colourful. Various inter house competitions were held to celebrate Christmas. Classes Nursery – V singing of Christmas carols, Middle school prepared cribs and High School sang Christmas carols in groups and enacted skit related to the nativity of Jesus. The arrival of Santa Claus created a happy and pleasant atmosphere. At the end of the programme Sr. Teresa Adampakallel announced the best house for the year 2014.The students took home the message of Christmas: to be loving, caring, sharing and respecting.
Solidarity Week – Meaning of Christmas
Christmas is opening our hearts to others giving our time and energy for others forgiving those who hurt us and asking forgiveness, and accepting others as they are in our hearts, it is doing for others what Jesus did for us. It is letting God’s spirit reign in our hearts and giving His love to others.
From 12 – 19 December 2014, Auxilium Dum Dum, students celebrated Christmas by generously sharing their gifts, love and blessings with less privileged people.
On 12th December 2014, 50 students of class XI were given the opportunity to visit the correctional Home to celebrate Christmas with the female inmates and children. The celebration began with the enchantment of Christmas Carols followed by an enactment depiction the birth of Jesus Christ. To enhance the festive mood the students gave them shawls, cakes, sweets and clothes as Christmas presents.
Kritika Jalan of class XI C shares her experience, “It was an unforgettable experience I shall remember all my life. I thank sisters for allowing us to celebrate Christmas in the true sense by letting us experience innate joy and gratitude.”
Class IX visited “Nirmala Kennedy Center” (Missionary sisters of Charity) at Green Park. The students shared the joys and sorrows of many differently abled ladies, and wished them with Christmas carols. They were gifted flour, maida, sooji, biscuits, soya beans, chocolates as eatables; shawls towels and petroleum jelly. They returned to school beaming with joy of the wonderful experience of Christmas.
Monomita Nayak and Mayurakshi Mondal of class IX, shared their experience, “To be honest on seeing the people we were filled with grief. We get so much but still we demand more. But the people living there were happy with the little things they got from us. Our tiny drops of love brought a smile to their face. It was very sad to see them in that condition, tears came to our eyes.”
On 16th December 2014 class IV and V went Karuna Bhawan to spread smile in the faces of many disabled, mentally and physically challenged people. They greeted them with many gifts such as biscuits, magi, sooji, soyabean and detergent etc. Christmas Carols gave them great rapture. Br. Yeshu Das M.C. in charge of the Karuna Bhavan delivered a short Christmas massage saying, ‘do not study only to get a job but to be a good human being who can love and care for every human person’. At the end he thanked the students for many gifts and presented them the picture of Mother Teresa.
Krittika Smadar of class V says, “I felt very sad seeing those people. They were so happy when they saw us. Some of them were fully disabled but I know God has his blessing on them and I will always pray to God that they stay happy”.
17th December Classes II and III also took the chance to celebrate the Christmas with the small children who are looked after by the Missionary sisters of Charity. They too sang the Christmas carol and gave many gifts.
Middle school showed their solidarity with the aged and sick people of Dum Dum locality and offered them rice, Detergent and food stuff. The Christmas celebration helped them to have a beautiful experience of giving and receiving.
Christmas Celebration in the oratory
A time to rejoice and celebrate! On 21st December 2014, the oratorians of Auxilum Dum Dum celebrated Christmas. They showcased a beautiful dance and the Nativity play. Sr. Teresa Adampakallel in her Christmas massage invited the children to love, care, share and respect everybody. All of them were gifted with a Christmas gift.

Christmas Celebration
On 21st December 2014,Auxilium Promotional Centre Barasat celebrated Christmas with of children of NCP, Oratorians, spoken English students, D.B.Tech students and the women of IGP and SHG, friends, well wishers and sisters.
Our uniqueness of the celebration was that each sector contributed towards the celebration. Mr. Sudipta Banerjee with his family added a special note of joy for all our children by becoming the santa for all the children who filled their pockets with snacks and balloons. The Christmas play and the carols spoke of the little king Jesus.
Journeying in holiness to make a difference
The 5 junior sisters of INC together with 10 juniors of INM province commenced their 2nd Novitiate -1st Phase at Sacred Heart Novitiate, Ranchi, from 15th November to 15th December 2014. The programme commenced with an inaugural prayer moment animated by Sr. Philomena Prabanalathan, co-ordinator of the programme, on the theme, “The Potter and the Clay”. In her inaugural talk she said, “We have not come to acquire knowledge but to become like Christ”.
The sessions taken by various resource persons: Sr. Leelamma Palliparambil on “Salesian Spirituality, Fr. Norbert SDB on “Community living”, Fr. John Crasta on “Cost of Discipleship”, Fr. David Barla on “Religious life”, Sr. Lily Perumpettikunnel on “Mary in the salesian charism”, Fr. Sylvanus SJ on “Discernment”, Fr. Philip SJ on “ Experience of Prayer and Contemplation” and Sr. Philomena Prabanalathan on “Constitutions” helped us to realize the demand of religious life, to identify ourselves in a better way, to be aware of what is happening within ourselves and overall, to come closer to God in fidelity to His call. Thus they enriched us challenging us to be authentic religious.
We are grateful to our Provincial Sr. Maria Pettayil for having given us this opportunity and supporting us with her prayers, Sr. Rose Ezarath and the community of Sacred Heart Novitiate for their hard work and sacrifices which enabled us to have a fruitful experience. We will cherish this memory of coming together and the unique God-experience.
Annual Sports Day
On Saturday 13th December 2014, Annual Sports Day was held at Auxilium Convent School New Chumta. Rev. Sr. Maria Pettayil FMA, the Provincial of Kolkata Province was the chief guest of the day. She was accorded a warm welcome by the Scouts, Guides and the band of the school.
The principal Sr. Innocencia Jojo addressed the gathering and welcomed the guests, parents and the students. With the March Past by the four houses, the Sports day celebration kicked off.
Chief Guest Sr. Maria in her speech which was given in Hindi appreciated the staff and the students for the well prepared programme and exhorted the students to make maximum use of the God given talents and to be a shining light as they go ahead in life.
All the winners of the day were awarded with medals and the merit certificates.
Holy Child Auxilium – ANOTHER FEATHER IN OUR CAP
On Saturday, 20th December 2014, H.C.Auxilium, Vasant Vihar was conferred with the Cleanliness, Hygiene and Sanitation Education (Chase) Award by the Confederation of Indian Universities. This presentation marked the auspicious occasion of the United Nations International Human Solidarity Day.
HCA was one of the few schools selected within the Delhi NCR region that stood out for its outstanding contribution for the overall cleanliness of the nation. The prestigious award that is affiliated to the United Nations (ECOSOC) and Clean up the Earth (CUTE) was handed over to Principal Sr. Lucy John at the India International Centre Auditorium. Some teachers were also present for the ceremony. Citing our efforts towards saving the earth we were strongly recommended by the International Association of Educators for World Peace and we believe our contribution towards making the Earth a greener planet has been appreciated through this gesture.
